CEO OF APPLIED MATERIALS CONFIRM EXPLOSION GROWTH IN SEMICON 2018 , AEMULUS WILL RIDE ON THIS GROWTH

Applied Materials President and CEO Gary Dickerson told CNBC on Friday that "there's never been a better time to be an investor" in his company in its 50-year history.

"We're firing on all cylinders," the CEO said. "That is fueling our business. That's something we've never seen in the history of our company."

In the era of A.I. and big data, Applied Materials sees several specific drivers contributing to its double-digit revenue and profit growth, Dickerson said.

The first is devices getting smarter. Sensor technology, memory power and data retention all fall in Applied Material's wheelhouse of products, giving it "fundamental" multi-year drivers, the CEO said.

"The memory business is also growing at a rate we've never seen before. All of these smart devices are creating a tremendous amount of data. Data's exploding," he told Cramer.

The profitability of memory companies is better than we've ever seen. And also, to really capture the value, you have to take the data and process it with high-performance computing. And the fundamental technology for high-performance computing and A.I., those materials come from Applied Materials."

Dickerson said that the smart device "explosion" will undoubtedly drive the semiconductor giant's revenue growth through 2018 and beyond.

2018 WILL BE BETTER THAN 2017 AND SEMICON WILL CONTINUE BE GROWTH

Goldman Sachs says if you thought 2017 was surprisingly good, just wait for 2018.

"2017 is shaping up to be the first year of the expansion in which growth surprises to the upside," Goldman analyst Charles Himmelberg says.

"We expect 2018 to deliver more of the same," Himmelberg adds.

Himmelberg and his team expect the global economy to grow 4 percent on a real gross-domestic-product basis because of several factors.

2018 WILL BE HISTORICAL HIGH IN BOTH REVENUE AND PROFIT FOR AEMULUS AFTER SUCCESSFULLY ENTER INTO CHINA MARKET

Prospects

Aemulus continues to create growth through innovation and leadership in the ATE markets for semiconductor devices. The launching of our new RF tester, Amoeba 7600-S combines our latest technology with scalability.

We believe that the technology is going to be able to serve the smartphone and tablet market well especially in the Far East region.

Based on the current business trend, demand for ATE from the smartphone and tablet segments as well as the enterprise storage segment is expected to continue into 2018.

The group is expecting revenue growth to further accelerate in fiscal year 2018, led by ATE sales growth in the Far East region with US region complementing it.

The financial results in fiscal year 2017 indicates that sales and marketing efforts in the Far East region were encouraging, achieving the target we established at the beginning of the fiscal year.

We shall continue the effort in fiscal year 2018 together with increasing sale and marketing effort in USA Region.

The group targets to achieve double digit revenue growth from the Far East in fiscal year 2018.

AEMULUS REVENUE WILL BE TRIPLE DIGIT GROWTH FROM CHINA.

FORBES , 9 Nov 2017.
China Looks To Chip Away At Taiwan's Semiconductor Dominance

China’s semiconductor industry, one that will make the core components of smartphones and PCs, is growing fast. If you said “hey wait, supplying semiconductors for consumer electronics sounds like more of a Taiwan thing,” you’d be right but outdated.

China’s semiconductor sector is thriving on investment from the Beijing government’s National IC Industry Investment Fund, Taipei-based market research firm TrendForce says in a media statement in October.

China already has the world’s biggest semiconductor market, so more work on components helps perfect a domestic supply chain and reduces reliance on imports.

Annual revenue from Chinese semiconductors this year will reach 517.6 billion yuan ($78 billion), up 19.4% over 2016, TrendForce forecasts. Revenue will grow 20% this year to a new record, the research firm says. Average growth worldwide is expected at just 3.4%.

“Numerous wafer fabs in China will be entering mass production during 2018, coinciding with the start of operation of many newly established domestic companies that focus on specific IC markets,” TrendForce says in the statement. A wafer is a semiconductor; a fab, a factory.

AEMULUS PENETRATED CHINA MARKET, HUGU POTENTIAL IN COMING YEARS

New initiatives in North Asia,China.

Revenue in China grew by 20% yoy in FY9/17, driven by a new customer win.

We expect China to be a key growth driver for the group from FY18 onwards following successful product penetration among Chinese semiconductor contract manufacturers in the past 18-24 months.

To recap, Aemulus set up a regional office for China and Taiwan last year as part of management’s efforts to be closer to its key clients.

Overall, we expect to see double-digit revenue growth again in the China market in FY18.

Aemulus launched its third-generation RF tester, the AE7600-S, in Sep 17.

We understand that the new RF tester is embedded with smart manufacturing software to support the industry 4.0 framework, which is expected to drive cost savings for semiconductor contract manufacturers.

We expect the new AE7600-S and existing AE4600 testers to drive volume growth for Aemulus in FY18.

Overall, we project 20% volume growth in FY18.

AEMULUS (Trading Buy, TP: RM0.84; SL: RM0.58). AEMULUS gained 4.0 sen (6.4%) yesterday to close at RM0.67. This was accompanied by a sudden spike in volume, with 18.1m shares exchanging hands – representing almost 5-fold its daily average. Yesterday’s move marks as a breakout from its 3-month sideways consolidation, and could potentially signal a continuation of a prior uptrend which lasted from the start of the year until end-July. Notably, yesterday’s bullish run also confirms a “Penant” continuation chart pattern, characterised by its converging trend lines during its consolidation phase, followed by yesterday’s breakout. Likewise, positive showings from key indicators could be suggestive of a move higher from here.

By projecting the pennant’s flagpole, we set our eventual technical target at RM0.84, with an intermediate resistance at RM0.75 (R1). Conversely, our stop-loss level is placed at the RM0.58 (S1) support, with a lower support identified at RM0.57 (S2).

Global Semiconductor Industry Posts Highest-Ever Quarterly Sales
WORLDWIDE Q3 SALES INCREASE 10.2 PERCENT COMPARED TO Q2; SEPTEMBER SALES INCREASE 22.2 PERCENT YEAR-TO-YEAR AND 2.8 PERCENT MONTH-TO-MONTH

Published Monday, October 30, 2017 8:30 am
by Dan Rosso

WASHINGTON—Oct. 30, 2017—The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA), representing U.S. leadership in semiconductor manufacturing, design, and research, today announced worldwide sales of semiconductors reached $107.9 billion for the third quarter of 2017, marking the industry’s highest-ever quarterly sales and an increase of 10.2 percent compared to the previous quarter. Sales for the month of September 2017 were $36.0 billion, an increase of 22.2 percent over the September 2016 total of $29.4 billion and 2.8 percent more than the previous month’s total of $35.0 billion. All monthly sales numbers are compiled by the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) organization and represent a three-month moving average.

“Global semiconductor sales increased sharply year-to-year in September, and year-to-date sales through September are more than 20 percent higher than at the same point last year,” said John Neuffer, SIA president and CEO. “The industry posted its highest-ever quarterly sales in Q3, and the global market is poised to reach its highest-ever annual revenue in 2017.”

Regionally, year-to-year and month-to-month sales increased in September across all markets: the Americas (40.7 percent year-to-year/5.9 percent month-to-month), China (19.9 percent/2.5 percent), Europe (19.0 percent/1.8 percent), Asia Pacific/All Other (16.8 percent/1.9 percent), and Japan (11.9 percent/0.5 percent).

“The Americas market continued to stand out, notching its largest year-to-year sales increase in more than seven years,” Neuffer said. “Standouts among semiconductor product categories included memory products like DRAM and NAND flash, both of which posted major year-to-year growth in September, as well as Logic products, which enjoyed double-digit growth year-to-year.”

Remark:
More tester are needed for such increased volume of sales.

Aemulus rolls out 5G test solutions

Julian Ho, Taipei; Jessie Shen, DIGITIMES [Tuesday 26 September 2017]

Malaysia-based automated test equipment (ATE) company Aemulus has anno unced the availability of its new test solutions for 5G wireless.

Aemulus also expressed optimism about ATE demand for automotive electronics and IoT applications in addition to 5G. For example, demand for wireless communications chips such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chips, power amplifiers, switch ICs, low noise amplifiers (LNA) and front-end module (FEM) will be driven further by IoT applications.

Aemulus recently introduced its third-generation radio-frequency (RF) FEM tester, Amoeba AMB7600-S, which was showcased at SEMICON Taiwan 2017 in early September.

Broadcom and Skyworks are reportedly among Aemulus' main customers. The ATE solution provider has also cut into the supply chain of major outsourced semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) companies such as Siliconware Precision Industries (SPIL) and Jiangsu Changjiang Electronics Technology (JCET), according to industry sources.

Remark:
Broadcom preferred ABM7600-S, this will boost Aemulus to new high.

Broadcom is one of the Aemulus's customers, thus Qualcomm shall be their customer soon.

RM350b worth of jobs to come on stream by 2020 — MBAM

By Neily Syafiqah Eusoff | 2017-11-03 10:37:55

KUALA LUMPUR: Master Builders Association Malaysia (MBAM) expects some RM350 billion worth of construction projects to be implemented in the next two to three years, following the tabling of Budget 2018 last Friday.

Under the proposed budget the government had allocated about RM48 billion for new development projects, said MBAM president Foo Chek Lee.

The total comes to RM350 billion when combined with some RM300 billion worth of projects that are ongoing or will be implemented, like the mass rapid transit (MRT) Line 3, the East Coast Rail Link and other projects that have been announced, he said.

“The government understands that the construction industry will stimulate the economy of the country. The industry is expected to grow by 7.5% next year ... it will be very busy, with numerous projects in the pipeline,” he told reporters on the sidelines of the inaugural MBAM Building and Construction Conference yesterday.

Themed “Technology Advancement with Stakeholders Collaboration”, the conference discussed the importance of Industrialised Building System (IBS) and productivity, with the aim of driving the local construction industry forward. The conference is co-organised by MBAM and the Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia.

“MBAM strongly supports the government’s policy to push for IBS [adoption] in order to increase our productivity, efficiency and of course to reduce our reliance on foreign workers,” he said.

However, Foo is hoping for a 5% reduction in import duty, from about 30% currently, for heavy construction machinery, to promote the production and installation of IBS components.

“We are hoping this import duty for heavy machinery be reduced, although the government is providing some grant for those purchasing the equipment now. The [reduction] will reduce initial capital cost for machinery and encourage the use of IBS here, to be aligned with our Asean neighbours,” he said.

“Budget 2018 is very positive, as far as the construction industry is concerned. We support the government’s budget allocation, especially on the 240,600 units of government housing under various public housing plans and 10,000 units of public housing for police staff, 210,000 housing units under PR1MA and upgrading of airports that will spur the construction industry,” he added.

Foo said the government is also pushing ahead with few projects such as the Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya MRT Line 2, MRT Line 3 or the Circle Line, the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail and the West Coast Highway from Banting, Selangor to Taiping, Perak.

To keep up, the local construction industry will have to evolve, he said.

“It is timely for the industry to upgrade the construction approach from the traditional approaches to more modern practice. We need to change our mindset; we need to adapt to technology [changes] in order to stay competitive and move forward, or else we will be left behind by other players in neighbouring countries,” Foo said.

“The construction industry has not transformed much in terms of technology or approach and still depends on traditional approaches, with a heavy reliance on foreign labour,” he added

Ltd and Gemac Engineering Machinery Co. Ltd. The handover ceremony was witnessed by the Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.

Fajarbaru Builder Group Bhd executive director Eric Kuan Khian Leng said: “This is a historical and proud moment for Fajabaru, as we have ordered some RM50mil worth of trackwork machinery, and they have arrived at our project site here in Kuala Lipis, Pahang.

“This marks the beginning of a transformation and further development for the company in the rail business,” Kuan said.

Kuan said the machinery were ordered for its rail project that has a value of more than RM250mil, known as the rehabilitation of track formation, replacement of ballast and
associated works between Jerantut, Pahang and Gua Musang Railway Station, Kelantan (Package B) that was awarded in 2016.

“By possessing these machines, this also makes Fajarbaru as one of the few private organisations to own such equipment, giving us a significant competitive advantage in the bidding of new construction and maintenance jobs for rail-related projects in the future,” he added.

There is more than 2,200km of railway tracks in Malaysia, of which Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) owns more than 80% of it.

“In view of some RM50bil has gone into rail-related infrastructure projects in the last five years, and Malaysia is poised to spend a further RM80bil at least in the next years, we hope that with these machines in hand, both KTMB and Fajarbaru can tap into each other’s expertise and capitalise on the synergistic competencies to keep the rail network well maintained,” Kuan said.

“We are definitely eyeing the potential of a huge maintenance contract that comes with the vast spending on rail-related jobs. The spree of rail related infrastructure projects that were announced in the last few months, being the most recent – 688-km East Coast Rail Link, are all the potential projects.

“The machinery that we received today have a shell life of at least 20 years, which means after the completion of the project in Pahang, we can deploy it for other usage,” Kuan added.
