Relatives of the Chinese passengers aboard MH370 have demanded that Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak apologise for 'prematurely' announcing that the missing flight had 'ended' in the Indian Ocean.
They want MAS to apologise as well for saying that there were no survivors, claiming that both announcements are without sufficient evidence.

2014-03-30 00:07 | Report Abuse
2014-03-30 00:06 | Report Abuse

The cover-up now begins, even well before the whole mystery of the missing plane is over. One more lie to cover the earlier many lies and negligence. Excuses are abounding. It’s anything goes just to save their skin.
Fingers would be pointed everywhere, anywhere, between departments and agencies to deflect any blame attributed to them. It sure will get ugly.
Only the ‘fittest’, ie those close to the top Umno leaders, would escape the consequences. Let the blame game begins.

Malaysia has been repeatedly criticised for mishandling the hunt for the Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777-200ER which went missing with 239 people onboard on March 8 while en route to Beijing.
The passenger jet has yet to be found but Malaysia has declared it lost at sea with no hope for survivors this week based on satellite data, sparking off another round of criticism as there has been no debris found yet.
"Malaysia didn't only lose a plane. The search for Flight 370 has also set the country on a potentially lengthy path to repair its reputation.
"Malaysian authorities have faced a barrage of criticism over perceptions that their search efforts were woefully disorganized, that they were releasing conflicting information, and that they were too slow to reveal crucial new data," The Wall Street Journal said yesterday in a front-page report on the plane search.

Malaysia Airlines opted out of a simple computer upgrade that costs RM33 per flight which would have provided critical information to help find the missing flight MH370 because it went for a cheaper option when purchasing the aircraft, the Sydney Morning Herald reported today.
A satellite industry official was quoted as saying that the upgrade, called Swift, would have provided the direction, speed and altitude of flight MH370 even after other communications from the plane went off the radar.
Had the Swift system been upgraded to include the full package of applications, it could have sent information on engine performance, fuel consumption, speed, altitude and direction, regardless of whether the transponder and Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS) were working, he said.

In a BBC report, a former British RAF pilot and aerospace analyst Andrew Brookes asked: "Where was the Malaysian Air Force in all this?"
It was previously reported that primary military radar tracked an unidentified contact that flew right across the country's air space, now confirmed to be MH370, but no action was taken.
"Ever since 9/11, air defences around the world have been on alert for a hijacked airliner aiming for a prestige target. And few targets are more prestigious than the Petronas towers in downtown Kuala Lumpur," added Brookes.
The former pilot pointed out that when the Boeing 777 turned back at the top of its scheduled climb without warning, Malaysian military should have noticed the red flag.
"When this bizarre saga is over, the Malaysian government and Air Force will have some serious matters to address, not least in the apparent gaps in wide area surveillance of their air space," he said.

Communications satellites picked up faint electronic pulses from Malaysia Airlines (MAS) Flight 370 after it went missing on Saturday, but the signals gave no information about where the stray jet was heading and little else about its fate, two sources close to the investigation said on Thursday.
But the "pings" indicated that the aircraft's maintenance troubleshooting systems were switched on and ready to communicate with satellites, showing the aircraft, with 239 people on board, was at least capable of communicating after it lost touch with Malaysian air traffic controllers.

@tjhldog. I have read JhoLow on insider/directors' selling. I don't agree entirely. But to get the whole picture, one must factor in the behaviour of management - whether they care for the shareholders. From retail investors' point of view, there is no point having a super efficient but heartless management. Many panicked and lost their meager savings during the recent sell-down which also prevented the rise of the share price! Sorry, but I tend to go by the facts. So you prefer super inefficient but gambling-hearted management like Repco? You know the consequences right?
