Jim Simons,
1. "Be guided by beauty. Just as a great theorem can be very beautiful, a company that's really working on all things very efficiently can be beautiful."

2. "Surround yourself with the smartest and best people you possibly can. Let them do their thing, don't sit on top of them. And if they're smarter than you, all the better."

3. "If everyone is trying to solve the same problem, if that's the latest and greatest thing to do, don't do that. Do something original, don't follow the pack."

4. "Don't give up easily, stick with it. Not forever, but really give it a chance to get where you're going."

5. "The final principle is 'hope for good luck.' That's the most important one."

(Dec 1): After ditching the airasia Superapp name and rebranding as Move in September, Capital A Bhd’s digital arm wants to become an established and widely recognised online travel agency in Southeast Asia.

Move already has 15.4 million active monthly users in the region, and a share of about 10% of its estimated US$30 billion (RM140.17 billion) travel market, chief executive officer Nadia Omer said in an interview with Bloomberg News.

The company, based in Kuala Lumpur, sells flights, hotels, travel insurance, and financial technology products, and offers ride-hailing services specialising in airport journeys.

“The real inflection point in e-commerce, which I see happening in the next two to three years, is in travel,” Nadia said in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday, the same day Capital A reported that Move posted revenue of RM171.4 million for the third quarter ended Sept 30, 2023, up 68% year-on-year.

Below are edited excerpts from the interview with Omer, who became the CEO in October:

Omer: I’m originally from Pakistan, and I come from a very traditional background. My ambition in life was to get married, have kids and have a settled family life. I got married during my studies, and had my first child before my first job. But I felt I had no identity of my own, and my family encouraged me to explore a career. My first job was at Procter & Gamble, where as a young mother, I moved into baby-care products.

Later, Nestlé hired me, and I helped build their juices portfolio, and then I became the head of Nescafe and breakfast cereals in Pakistan. My husband later moved to Thailand, and I found a regional role with PepsiCo.

Then I realised that FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods) had reached a mature stage, and wasn’t growing 15% to 20% annually any more. I started applying for e-commerce companies, and joined CARS24, before the amazing opportunity with Move came up.

The Move branding, is it deliberate to set you apart from AirAsia?
It is. This is a separate entity. To be an online travel agency, you need to fulfil the different needs of customers — not all of those can be met by AirAsia. People are travelling to other countries, and they have to take other carriers. We connect them in ways so they can find those options. I want to make sure they find the right hotels with us.

You have premium travellers, mainstream travellers and affordable travellers. We are somewhere between mainstream and affordable. I want to serve the needs of these people better than anybody else.

How many components does Move have?
We have different verticals. First is flights — we have other airlines as well. We will introduce and scale up travel insurance, like, for the price of a cup of coffee. We are also developing buy now, pay later programmes with our partners.

What are your goals for 2024?
The first home run we need to score is that when we ask people what Move does, they don’t say it’s just for flights. It is for flights plus hotels. The government has announced visa-free entry for China, India, Türkiye and Jordan. We have China and India, two big diasporas that both love coming into this region. Next year, we will start focusing on building the app business there.

This is very interesting n promising business, even, no other airlines are doing it at present, using its own App...could be listed as SPAC in Nasdaq!?
Teleport, Catering n Pax Services we can see from nearest rival, SATS.
ADE (MRO)...SIA ENG.
SIA Group Aviation (SQ, Tiger n Scoot).
AirAsia MOVE, almost same like GRAB...it's the customers that matter...AirAsia Aviation will attract more loyal customers...even if they don't earn much from seats capacity growth.
Hold for #50/100%...then take Action 🐂🚀

geary do you know AAX from listing untill now never pay any dividend but RI, 10 to 1 consolidation and PP?
So what is so great about AAX for you to boost AirAsia Brand is Super Famous...It's one of fastest, PN17 stock to be uplifted.
When will capA uplift from PN17?
The important rate of return is to win #100% back your cost...we sold half when share prices...go up #100%... that's one bagger!?
So the balanced holdings are zero cost...so just let it Rolls... receive DY or bonus...whatever.
Important is zero down our cost of portfolio holdings equities.
AAX already from around YTD...#0.70/2.60. So it's already, by roughly 1.50/2.00...most already took back their cost of capital outlay!?
Whatever rate of return, afterwards it's #100%...Understand🥱
For Insas...YTD not even #20%🤮...uptrend...so it's not our watchlist of stocks.
Dividend sometimes it's not the only criteria, optional maybe .. it's the price uptrend that really matter most...Happy Trading 🙏

Why CapitalA cannot go up from around...#0.60 to #2.50...!?
It's a matter of how strong the demand for the shares..more buyers n less sellers!?
All shares will go up n down...only the percentage of volatility that really matter...to win multi Baggers...🚀
Insas can even go up 2 baggers, after so many years🤮
Soochaaaiiiisss only will buy n hold...for lost return of less than #6%...cannot beat Inflation n Depreciation. That's lost making investing strategy 🤮🙏

SEPANG, 17 November 2022 –
For the upcoming festive period, AirAsia will be adding extra low fare and red eye flights from Kuala Lumpur and other main hubs to various destinations across Malaysia and beyond, enabling more people to be reunited with their loved ones at this important time.

AirAsia has been steadily increasing its flight frequencies and resuming routes as the airline bounces back from a two-year long hiatus to cater for significant pent up demand. This year alone, AirAsia has reintroduced flights to everyone’s favourite domestic and international destinations such as India, Cambodia, Vietnam and many more and the airline has also been gradually increasing its flight capacity to cater to rising demand. However, the recovery path has been a challenging one for AirAsia as most airlines are faced with the global shortage in maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility slots to get all its aircraft back into service.

Riad Asmat,
CEO of AirAsia Malaysia said: “As the people’s airline we will always champion the best value fares which is more important than ever right now. The festive season is one of our busiest periods and our goal is to enable everyone to be able to fly home to be reunited with their families during this special time. Therefore, we’ve decided to add extra flights to and from our most popular destinations, enabling everyone to ‘balik kampung’ affordably.

“Undoubtedly, these last few years have been tremendously hard for everyone and even as travel is now fast rebounding this year, AirAsia has not been able to put out as many extra flights as we’d like simply because of the ripple effect of the pandemic. We are still constrained by limited planes as our fleet is undergoing mandatory maintenance checks after two years of hibernation and the limited availability of MRO hangars would mean that these checks are taking longer-than-usual. We are doing all we can to support our valued guests and we are so thankful to be bringing back all of our flight crew who were on furlough due to no fault of their own, and we are also now hiring additional cabin crew to support this V-shaped recovery.

“It’s incredibly heartwarming to know that as our operations slowly start to resume normalcy, we are able to cater to the rising demand and connect more people to the amazing places in Malaysia and across Asia - and most importantly, to be able to bring them back with their loved ones in time for the festivities. While we’re still constrained by the restart of the global air travel revival, our guests can rest assured that from next month and leading up to Chinese New Year and Hari Raya, we will be adding as many flights as possible for our core domestic and international routes, helping to ensure everyone can fly back home in time to celebrate. Taking into account the working folks’ busy schedule, we will factor in a number of red-eye flights for the same low price so that there are plenty of choices for everyone. Stay tuned for our upcoming promos and deals on these extra flights!”

Millions of global travellers voted AirAsia as the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline for the 14th consecutive time at Skytrax
PARIS, 21 June 2023 - AirAsia has been voted the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline at the Skytrax World Airline Awards 2023 (Skytrax) for an unprecedented 14th consecutive time.

As a global benchmark of airline quality and excellence, the final award results include more than 325 airlines with AirAsia emerging on top in its category. Over 100 nationalities of travellers participated in the online survey, with 20.23 million eligible entries counted in the results from September 2022 to May 2023, a period when AirAsia had steadily increased its network back to over 130 destinations.

This exceptional recognition comes as a resounding testament to the airline's recovery and robust growth in its routes and passengers carried, alongside an unwavering commitment to innovation and providing exceptional service despite the challenges brought about by the global pandemic. As a result, AirAsia once again remains the top low-cost airline for travellers seeking the best for value and choice.

In accepting the award at a ceremony at the Paris Air Show 2023 in France on Tuesday, Capital A CEO, Tony Fernandes said: “We are immensely proud and grateful for this meaningful award given to us by the Skytrax organisers, voters, and the incredible supporters of AirAsia. Getting an award of excellence for 14 consecutive years is a remarkable achievement, one that fills our hearts with joy and humility. This is an extraordinary feat for any company in any industry, even more so for our proudly Asean brand.”

Edward Plaisted, CEO of Skytrax said: “AirAsia is a survey passenger favourite and have delivered a remarkable degree of consistency year-on-year since the World's Best Low-Cost Airline category was introduced to the awards programme in 2010. The recognition from customers should be a great source of pride for the airline management and staff in what has been a difficult period as travel returns after the Covid pandemic.”

With 170 planes already back in service across the Group, AirAsia expects to have all 204 reactivated by the end of August this year. Not only will it achieve 100% of pre-pandemic capacity in the coming months, the airline is also looking to spread its wings even further with the addition of 19 new planes which will take flight this year, including four Frontier planes.

AirAsia has also recommenced its longer-term aircraft orders to bring its fleet to the biggest yet to have 362 planes, the first of which will be delivered in 2024. The airline is also looking forward to its cargo and logistics business Teleport to receive the first of the three dedicated A321Fs freighters in July, to boost volume and speed for cross-border deliveries in the region.

AirAsia also reaffirms its commitment to excel in customer experience with numerous AI enhancements for its chatbot AskBo alongside the continued rollout of its own biometric facial recognition technology - FACES - on its core domestic routes, which will make flying and connecting with the airline more efficient and seamless than ever before.

Know why I ask question 11 for the coming Insas AGM?

With Equity Attributable to Owners of the Company RM 2,342,233,000 of which retained earnings is RM 1,419,807,000 and of the retained earnings the Net Financial assets is RM 1,418,421,000.

Question 11: Return of Equity (%): FY2023 a poor 5.2% is not the fault of Insas Management Team but mainly due to BOD keep too much retained earnings (Equity keep growing) and hence will BOD kindly rectify the imbalance by distribute portion of the retained earnings to shareholders in the form of special dividend

U r the shareholder...no harm asking reasonable demand.
But they are very unfriendly...BODs!?
All these years, average dividend was around #0.02/share. Plus Treasury Shares...but they took back from shareholders, issued rights. That's nonsense, with their huge free cash flows n retained earnings.

Grab Public Listing Key Data and IPO Date
Grab IPO Date: December 2, 2021
Ticker: GRAB
Exchange: Nasdaq
IPO stock price: $10 ($11.89)
Valuation at IPO: $40 billion
Market cap (4/20/22): $11.71 billion
CEO: Anthony Tan
Category: Technology
Listing method: SPAC

Grab went public on December 2, 2021, launching its IPO on Nasdaq with the stock symbol GRAB.

The company’s management opted to go public by a merger with a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC). This is a public black-check company created solely for the purpose of merging with a promising startup. This means that rather than launching a traditional IPO, when a company registers everything from scratch, they merge with an existing public company, which makes the IPO process much cheaper and quicker for them.

SPACs have been around since the 90s, but in 2020-21 they became a super popular alternative for launching a company into the market.

Grab announced its deal with Altimeter Growth in April 2021 for $39.6, the largest SPAC deal to date, and raised $4.5 billion in the launch, which became the largest market debut by a Southeast Asian company.

However, Grab IPO was not to be a success everyone had hoped for. GRAB opened 20% up from its predecessor AGC on their IPO date, but the stock soon reversed and closed at $8.75. This made Grab founder and CEO Anthony Tan, who owned 2.2% a stake, a billionaire for less than a day. After that the stock price went downhill, and so did Tan’s net worth.

NYSE/Nasdaq Equity News:
The price-to-book ratio has a big problem.
More and more U.S. companies report negative book value, the result of accounting rules and structural changes in the market.
This creates broad confusion and problems for the famous value factor, and indexes or strategies which rely on it as a measure of cheapness.

Negative equity companies are often written off as distressed, but after reporting negative equity, most of them survive for years and have, as a group, outperformed the market 57% of the time.

1. There are currently #118 companies in the U.S. market with negative equity. These companies have had negative equity for an average of over three and a half years, and

2. #25% have had negative equity for over five years.
One example is Domino’s Pizza which has had negative equity since their 2004 IPO but has outperformed the S&P 500 by a cumulative 1,442%.

3. McDonalds, H&R Block, Yum Brands, HP, Motorola, Denny’s, AutoZone, Wayfair, Starbucks, Papa John's, n many others are also on the list of those with negative book value.
Not classified as distressed companies in NYSE n Nasdaq.
FYI.
CapitalA Negative Equity, as stated by Sir Tony Fernandes, is reasonably correct anyway.
Stock Exchange, especially in ASEAN, need to change, to accommodate, more start-ups, franchises, with minimum paid up capital. FYI.

“Our culture is the biggest and most important thing. What makes us different? That really is AirAsia’s people,” said Tony.
He believes that you can have the greatest technology at your disposal but if you don’t have the right people, you are screwed. You can buy the best software, you can buy the best technology, but if you don’t have the right mindset of people wanting to use that technology, you are wasting your money. He further added,

“My job is all about culture, about polishing raw diamonds into diamonds, to make people know that they are our best assets.
You can’t value talent in a balance sheet(like one guy, keep on harping past balance sheet), u know I know lah, and the biggest strength of AirAsia is our talent.”

CapitalA CEO Sir Tony Fernandes;

Fielding questions from the media on its Practice Note 17 (PN17) status and how it would affect its liquidity?

Fernandes said that the classification is merely an "accounting issue" and does not affect its liquidity by pointing to the RM2.5 billion it managed to raise in 2021.

"I mean, if you look at the PN17 classification, it is purely accounting and in fact, the solution has nothing to do with liquidity.

"That is why I have spoken with Bursa to relook at the rules and clarify the definition of what constitutes PN17, because it is not really clear to the layman.

"PN17 has zero effects on us. We have technically been PN17 for the last two years but for the relief measures.

"We raised RM2.5 billion [in 2021] and we are raising another RM1 billion of capital soon.

PN17 was imposed because we did not pay the leasing costs which appear on the profit and loss (P&L) statement.

"By accounting the restructuring, a merger deficit of RM5 billion has been recorded on the P&L. If we take these two things out, we would not be PN17 as the solution to PN17 is accounting as well, because the group has more than enough liquidity?

Mabel Meow!
Just like SIA, CapitalA AirAsia was also paralysed by the pandemic without any revenue. However, unlike SIA with Big Brother Temasek cumming to the rescue, CapitalA took many initiatives to revive and stay afloat without any help from the Malaysian Government.
Now you know why Mabel salute Air Asia. Salute 🙌!
It’s going to be an exciting few month coming up for CapA.
- Submission of PN17 upliftment. Big boys will pump kaw2 once lifted.
- AAX uplifted from PN17 (another attempt)
- 204 active planes by Dec 2024.
- New aircraft orders soon for added capacity and new routes.
- Additional 2 aircraft for teleport.
- New York listing.

Great opportunity lies ahead from our Visionary Leader. Based on Sir TF past track record, Tony will cum with some magic. TF is an accountant currently a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).
