KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 24): AirAsia Bhd’s long haul low-cost carrier AirAsia X (AAX) has received clearance from the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) to fly to the US.

In a statement today, AAX said it is the first Asian low-cost carrier to secure approval to operate scheduled passenger flights to the U.S.

The approval allows AAX to operate services to any destination within the U.S. ------
When the above news was announced the price jumped from 0.375 to 0.43 within a few days. So by right, with the current good 4thQ profit announcement, the price should be more than 0.43. Simple common senses.

All shareholders mush have confident with AAX management team who are working very hard to bring AXX to the next level. They have proven with profit for the financial period ended 31/12/2016. Furthermore,this year the profit will increase with the approval to fly to US.

KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 26): The key FBM KLCI rose 0.5%, on the back of improving global economic outlook and higher Wall Street close on Christmas Eve (Tuesday).

Year-end window-dressing of major blue chips also helped lift the local 30-stock benchmark index nearer to its previous (Dec 17) record close of 1850.90 amid light trades.

At 5.00 pm, the FBM KLCI added 8.61 points or 0.5% to end at 1844.10.

Gainers led losers by 414 to 338, while 299 counters traded unchanged. Volume was low at 905 million shares valued at some RM818 million.

The key movers of the KLCI were Tenaga, SKPetro, IHH, Maybank, Public Bank, Sime Darby, FGV, Genting Malaysia and Axiata, while top gainers included Petronas Dagangan, PPB, HLFG, Genting Plantations and IJM.

Rubber prices closed slightly higher on further weakening of the ringgit against the US dollar, said a dealer.

He said the uptrend was also in tandem with gains in Tokyo Commodity Exchange (TOCOM) rubber futures, which had rebounded from a one-month closing low due to the weakening of the yen against the greenback and rally in shares.

At noon, the Malaysian Rubber Board's official physical price for tyre-grade SMR 20 rose 4.50 sen to 753 sen per kg while latex-in-bulk increased half-a-sen to 555 sen per kg.

The unofficial closing price for tyre-grade SMR 20 stood at 753 sen per kg while latex-in-bulk was quoted at 555 sen per kg.
