some jokers can't appreciate the Z1P3 contract and can't differentiate earnings during construction phase and maintenance phase. it's ok, they can go enjoy the oil and gas and plantation losses instead hahaha

last time many of their sales rely on "tricking" customers into buying by ticking the buy insurance option. now this has been outlawed so they have lost massive amount of sales. this is the single biggest issue that has happened to Tune in the past 1 year. if the blogger doesn't know about it then they probably don't know much about the company anyway

they have orderbook and has proven capable of delivering so just give it time. plus being cash rich doesn't hurt hehe

haha if the deal's off, puncak shareholders should cry cos they will be looking for at least few more years of losses.
meanwhile triplc shareholders can just look forward to coming quarter results since Z1P3 is starting in Q2 and they will start recognizing earnings. they can also sell their land to other buyers at market price instead of the discount now

topglove has some cheap warrants for exposure. C12, C17, C18 premiums are all quite reasonable

if the margin recovery is proven real (like hartalega), then the current price rally could have many more legs

glove industry is incredibly resilient and most of our glove companies are quite good. it was in the cold for the past year as margins were compressed. now seems like margin is coming back and so are the investors' interest

good results, if coming quarters earnings can also achieve at least 6-7c, then 2.50 shouldn't be far

I have no intention of challenging anyone's calculations here.
1. for inventory gains/losses, I'm not sure whether they do it on unsold inventories but definitely for those which are refined and sold there will be effect
2. I monitor the refining margins through indexes which doesn't give me exact amount per barrel. I already shared the data here almost 2 months ago. it was better in 1Q17 but how much is it better in RM I'm not sure
3. I invested in Petron because I like its growing biz, stabilising margins and strong free cashflow. reasonably I'm expecting around RM1-RM1.20 EPS (or RM270-RM320m) for 2017 and around RM300m free cashflow. but for those who bought it expecting at least RM100m profit a quarter, I'm afraid they will be disappointed when expectations are set too high.
I own Petron and still like it even at this price. I share the facts and my opinion (whether it's favourable or less favourable about the company) as I believe that one should be informed when they invest. that's how I learn from others as well in this forum
I'm writing these to remind myself why I bought this stock in the first place as well as to manage any speculators' unrealistic expectations.

it's more for the refining side. retail side should benefit slightly as Jan-Mar petrol price was increasing mom, so every month end they will earn a bit from price adjustment but I am not expecting it to be big since they bought their petrol mostly from their own refining arm anyway. left pocket to right pocket doesn't count

I'm referring to quarter end inventory valuation. petron keep 3-4 weeks inventory, so the inventories they bought at end-Feb or early Mar was at higher price, it is likely to be marked down at end-Mar. the opposite happen in 4Q16 when end-Dec inventory value was marked up after OPEC announced the cut

just my 2 cents on results
I'm still sceptical on a RM100m profit quarter. Refining margins were better in 1Q17, sales volume hopefully is better as well but I'm expecting some inventory losses compared to inventory gain in 4Q16. maybe they hedged it but who knows? hope they will positively surprise me

mkh shareholders can still sell their shares and buy OR to exercise. do some work can get you 2-3% in one month's time. extra return while waiting for company to bear fruit

MKH is a good company with solid management and biz. it's just unfortunate that now people are not interested in property and plantation (CPO price dropping). but strategic landbank in Kajang/Semenyih will benefit from future MRT and other big developers development there. plantation can reach 25mt/tonne during El Nino is nothing but spectacular. good for medium to long term investment

tomorrow open another limit down, close to RM1.50 then maybe some investors will chip in
2017-05-07 22:00 | Report Abuse
don't catch the falling knive tomorrow. even though they rushed out two announcements but it still fails to address the bandar malaysia issue.
first, land sale gives good disposal gain but proceeds paid in installments until 2020 and most need to be used to plough back into land related developments.
two, they formally signed the merger with IWH but with crown jewel, Bandar Malaysia gone, why are they still going at RM1.50 per share? the price should have been higher so IWH should have gotten less IWC shares in exchange. instead they said they will enter into some other land purchases which details are not provided (clearly rushed out so details can't be finalised). If they adjust the price higher maybe the bloodbath tomorrow could have been lesser
And if you look at pg14 of the announcement, current IWC shareholders will only own 12% of the enlarged IWH. so in summary, IWC shareholders are getting 12% of an enlarged company filled with Johor land that will take considerable number of years and investments to develop as well as crazy planning to prevent oversupply and cannibalising itself.
It's gonna be hard to convince investors not to take profit or cut loss. seems like being highlighted by bloomberg as best performing stock (last one IFCA) is a curse

way overvalued. acquiring mostly loss-making companies, the only profitable one acquire 50% only. other than KLIA and KLIA2, who wants to stay in Tune Hotel nowadays when you have Airbnb and so many other boutique hotels. major shareholder and his Tune Group buddies dumping failed assets (except those in KLIA area) to ECM at good price (plus getting shares at 36c only), but include a special dividend so everyone is happy in the short term

the only good thing about farlim is its strong net cash. after selling most of its Air Itam land to 1MDB, they are only left with plots of land in other less strategic states like Terengganu and Perak. the others are too small for any serious development. sooner or later have to use the cash to buy some better land or biz

I think so too but I don't know how big the MAS and AirAsia accounts are. I'm just guessing MAS is bigger because of the photo included :)
AirAsia has been growing strong last year because MAS scaled back its routes. so if MAS now back to compete with more flights, it can only be positive for Petron. more competition means more flights and more fuel consumed. the airlines' load factor may suffer but that's none of Petron's concern
2017-05-02 17:38 | Report Abuse
I noticed that MAS seems to be a big customer for Petron (since its name and logo was featured in the annual report). with MAS coming back with more flights this year, the commercial segment should do better as well

profit margin for typical property project usually range from 15-20%. even if factor in land cost say 20% (80m), it is impossible for the project to make 55% margin. unless the project is some china tofu projects using cheap materials and the whole building can collapse anytime

now that stock market has corrected slightly (not even major one), all types of faces have emerged.
not defending anyone but certainly people has their own right to buy and sell. sometimes people can sell bcos of various reasons like need of cash, reallocation of their own portfolio, better opportunities in other stocks etc.
people share good info because they want you to buy, period. the only difference is that some are pointing out real fundamentals while some make up some fake fundamentals. the former you can ride along, the latter you follow then good luck. how to differentiate the two is your own judgment, no one is responsible for your own investment. if it has some serious change in fundamentals like tekseng and people still screaming buy, then I think maybe you have a right to sulk. as far as I know, nothing has changed for the past month

poor results as expected. old contracts running out and new contract haven't started. bad weather also affected their construction progress. next quarter should be much stronger with better progress and interest income (instead of interest cost)
