Oil is a global 'wei chi' game played for very high stakes
SKPetro is a Petronas wannabe and sumatec is a SKPetro wannabe
Current production supports/provides the cash flow
future (and future value) is in the concessions.
Big Oil especially the vertically integrated ones also considers logistics and economies eg if it makes more $$$ sense buying cheap oil then pumping it why not, and they have heck of a lot of brains advising them.
my 2 cents: there will be a floor for oil...where ? ...no idea and no point predicting as they got the $$$$$ to determine.
trade to lower costs or wait depends on your risk profile.
cheers.....salad time!! hahaha

Can HupSeng shareholders get any Red Sena shares. What is the connection?
If yes, is it good given current scenario.
If not........you decide

Current mkt cap 600m; 9mth making 25m, Net asset 0.185.Its starting to look reasonable on fundamentals. However so does a lot of other stocks.
Tie up with China and/or Russia does make sense because of the pipeline and could lower costs.
Everything is 'fluid'. Not buy/sell....monitor first.

well said Noraini. Methinks it may take 3-6 months from here when futures expire, stocks(refinery) get wound down and even possibly some force majeure/defaults ;then we would see who is bluffing!

similarly Suma can deploy horizontal drilling. Its the actual costs now and ROI on new wells/drills that we have to guess.

superbear:
I think that report may be outdated. The 3 main basins have actually increased. The main players for these 3 main basins are all the Big Oil and wells are relatively close to each other because of the size of the reserves. This also helped lower down cost per barrel but elsewhere and the smaller guys the costs probably exceeds current price.

FJ: careful what you wish for! You seriously want authorities to over regulate?Rules are comprehensive enough its the implementation.IF NG was flying u want an UMA? or why no UMA when dropping.
One of Warren Buffett's criteria for investing is management.
NG's pd up in 2006 was 252M now almost 2B and price drop and only 1 dividend in 2007
Steve:your tolerance and others tolerance not same one.TPY sell why u not sell?

The question is where we go from here. Those made profit can buy back using their 'foreign' capital but that also is premised on what sort of returns investors can get out of the stock.Everyone was expecting a 5 bagger/10bagger but that scenario has changed. The structure of Suma's deal will have to be changed.Confidence have been broken so whatever proposed will have to be studied under the microscope.
Read back Random trading's article above.
CFO buying is peanuts compared to what they have sold-spare change
1st US shipments of crude only started in June this year and it is still small. It is just that US is now self sufficient and has excess and not importing.I think this is the beginning of a breakdown of the cartel OPEC.How many of them(OPEC) invested wisely like Norges Bank the Norwegian investment fund.Wars, politicking, arms purchase, corruption/extravagance etc.Any similarities here
just my 2 cents!!
goodnight!

Caspian oil methinks is Light sweet...high quality
Potential is definitely there but sentiments sucks! Plus points is that Suma has a couple of wells there and not shooting in the dark. Also costs may not be as high as assumed.
Sumatecs 'structure'...how and it what form given current sentiment.
May have to treat this like a mining option ie hold 5 yrs
I decided to 'let someone hold the baby' and monitor closely.

The 3 biggest shale oil basins in the US:Bakken,Eagle Ford and Permian basin. The players there are dominated by Big Oil;Shell ,Exxon Conoco ...you name it.Theses guys can afford economies of scale due to the high reserves. The more productive the field the lower the average cost per barrel. However they have also other conventional oil, offshore, onshore deepwater etc and they are public companies that have to protect their revenue and profits.
Hopefully this will give some respite.
