Whether need to average down or not for particular stock depending on its intrinsic value, earning and future potential. If the stock is penny stock, record negative earning, trade below NTA, non-dividend, involve in loss making business, cyclical business or sunset business, then it is highly advisable to either cut loss, never averaging down or hold till recovery to mitigate loss.

Beside proton, DRB also have other auto brand, and all of these contribute positively to DRB, with Honda alone record net profit RM 60m + other joint control other auto brand record profit RM 10.5m.

Another DRB major earning contributor is its service division, house Bank Muamalat, KLAS, Alam Flora, Puspokom, all in record pretaz profit RM 110m + associate Pos Msia record net profit RM 8.1m.

It is therefore convincingly justify DRB is more than proton, and successful proton turnaround (rely on game changer, proton Iriz to exceed breakeven point 150k unit FY 2015), is just added benefit on top of DRB existing profitable business, spanning from financial, logistic, concession and huge profitable orderbook from Defech (7.556 bil) and CTRM (RM 5.66 bil), promising long term earning visibility.

Actually i'm expecting higher dividend next year. DRB dividend policy is 30% payout. DRB earning should be peaking next year on assumption that DRB unit Deftech will have full scale production of highly lucrative military AV8 + Increase Iriz to lower proton loss + recognized 61m one off net gain from UniAsia divestment.

Based on estimation, DRB will deliver Q1 5.6sen + Q2 8sen (recognized 61m gain) + Q3 (6sen, expect proton to narrowing loss) + Q4 (7.5sen, completion and deliver first batch of 12 unit of AV8) = total 27sen, payout 30%, 8sen or at least 7sen, give rise to yield 3.5% - 4.0%.

Another potential catalyst is that, DRB unit Alam Flora is expect to sign solid waste management with Kelantan state gov soon. DRB also is one of the 4 shortlisted tender for waste to energy incinerator, 30 year concession under build operate transfer, worth RM 800m, capable to produce 15 MW and entitle to attributive green energy feed in traffic.

i bought 90 cents before this stock. During that time, DRB has not bought proton.
Now they bought proton, i think it can easily hit back to 90 cents. Therefore, don't go in so fast. Let all the so-chai to average down until no bullet, then can start enter.
