KUALA LUMPUR: Property developer UEM Sunrise Bhd is expecting a gross development value (GDV) of RM800mil for the newly launched third and final phase of its Southern Industrial and Logistics Clusters (SILC 3) project in Iskandar Puteri, Johor.

The SILC is a fully integrated 1300-acre sustainable industrial park that caters to light and medium industries and as of December 2016, RM350mil had been invested in the infrastructure for the first two phases.

“We will invest between RM250mil and RM300mil in infrastructure in the next five years.

“I expect the third phase to be completed in the fourth quarter of this year,” UEM Sunrise managing director and chief executive officer Anwar Syahrin Abdul Ajib told a press conference after the launching of SILC’s phase three in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

Anwar also added that the entire project, including the completed and fully sold out phase one and phase two, would see a GDV of about RM1.6bil.

Earlier, UEM Sunrise inked an agreement with Hong Kong-based information management, world mobility, relocation and fine art logistics provider, Crown Worldwide Group for just over four acres of land in the industrial park for about RM88 per square foot, translating to a fee of RM16 mil.

Crown Malaysia managing director Leon Hulme said the land would be developed into a facility with the ability to store over 1.5 million boxes of corporate documents for its Crown Records Management brand, as well as being home to its Crown Relocations and Crown World Mobility brands.

He also added that the privately owned company would set aside RM37mil for the project and that the project would create a significant number of jobs for the local people of Johor.

Anwar said that currently 53% of investments in the SILC were from local investors, and the rest from international investors, namely the United Kingdom, Taiwan, Singapore, South Korea, the United States, Denmark, India, China, Australia, the Netherlands and Germany.

UEM Sunrise chief operating officer Raymond Cheah said the company was targeting to create 3500 jobs in SILC 3 in the next four years.
