@gushan, the point of mergers is to exploit synergies and cost savings. Who said both parties cannot win?

At current levels, I think CIMB is reasonably valued, but not overvalued. Seems okay to continue to hold.

I don't want to pour cold water but if you put 50% of your real money into one stock which is not even a blue chip, you won't be able to sleep well at night. It's easy to bet on one stock with pretend money because there's no actual consequences for failure.

In my opinion, just hold for dividend. Unless you need to use the cash.
2017-05-04 13:42 | Report Abuse
@Mary Tan Ling, if you sell on 3rd May, no dividend. If sell on 4th May, you are entitled to dividend.
2017-05-04 13:41 | Report Abuse
@Wendy Chua, you will still get the dividend even though you sell at ex-date.
2017-05-04 11:36 | Report Abuse
Anyone correct me if I am wrong but this is my understanding about entitlement date & Ex-date.
Basically if you want to receive the dividend, you have to buy the shares at least 1 day before ex-date. Entitlement date is usually 2 working days after ex-date, in order to give the company time to update its shareholder list. If you buy the shares after ex-date and sell it before entitlement date, you will not be eligible to receive dividend.
In short, buy the shares before ex-date if you want dividend. Ignore entitlement date, it's not important to you.

I am guessing some of the EPF funds are probably designated for intra-day trading so the traders would buy and sell the same shares to get some small profit.
Another possibility is these buy and sell decisions are made by multiple fund managers in EPF at different times of the day.
