KUALA LUMPUR: Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd (FGV) bercadang menambah keluasan ladangnya pada tahun ini dengan meninjau potensi membeli ladang atau tanah baharu di Malaysia, Indonesia dan Afrika.
Presiden dan Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif Kumpulan FGV, Datuk Zakaria Arshad, berkata pengeluar minyak sawit (MSM) terbesar dunia itu bercadang untuk menambah keluasan ladangnya sebanyak 20,000 hektar lagi.
Beliau berkata, ketika ini, pihaknya sedang berunding dengan beberapa pihak mengenai pembelian kawasan ladang baharu itu.
"Kami meninjau tanah atau ladang yang menepati kriteria Persidangan Meja Bulat Minyak Sawit Lestari (RSPO). Jika tidak menepati RSPO, kami tidak akan membelinya," katanya pada sidang media selepas menyampaikan taklimat prestasi kewangan FGV bagi tahun kewangan berakhir 31 Disember 2017, di sini, hari ini.
Selain itu, Zakaria berkata, FGV juga bercadang untuk menjual dua hingga tiga aset bukan terasnya pada tahun ini sejajar dengan strategi syarikat peneraju perniagaan agro itu untuk menumpukan dalam perniagaan perladangan.
Beliau berkata, setakat ini, pihaknya berada di peringkat akhir untuk menjual satu hingga dua aset bukan terasnya.
Zakaria berkata, FGV juga akan memberi tumpuan tahun ini dalam usaha meningkatkan jumlah pemborong utama bagi minyak masak sebanyak 25 peratus di seluruh negara daripada 200 pemborong utama ketika ini.
Beliau berkata, pengeluar MSM itu juga akan terus membangunkan hasil tanaman yang lebih tinggi dan benih kelapa sawit berkualiti menerusi penyelidikan genetik molekul.
Mengenai isu jawatan Presiden dan Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif MSM Malaysia Holdings Bhd (MSM), Zakaria berkata, pihaknya masih membuka tawaran kepada Datuk Mohamad Amri Sahari untuk kembali semula menerajui syarikat pengeluar gula itu.
Beliau berkata, pihaknya memberi masa yang mencukupi untuk Mohamad Amri membuat keputusan.
Januari lalu, MSM mengumumkan kekosongan jawatan Mohamad Amri berikutan keputusan beliau melepaskan jawatan itu selepas mendakwa beliau disingkirkan secara konstruktif.
Jawatan Presiden dan Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif MSM kini dipangku Mohd Shaffie Said.
Sementara itu, Zakaria berkata, FGV akan terus berhubung secara rapat dengan pemegang kepentingannya dan juga orang awam dalam menguruskan isu persepsi membabitkan FGV.
Beliau berharap orang ramai jangan keliru dengan operasi FGV yang mana perniagaan terasnya adalah dalam perladangan dan tidak terbabit dalam perniagaan hotel dan pelaburan hartanah lain.
