https://www.theguardian.com/business/2020/apr/21/virgin-australia-expected-to-go-into-voluntary-administration-as-government-rules-out-saving-airline
Virgin Australia has gone into voluntary administration after the federal government again ruled out saving the airline.
This will be the biggest, airline collapse since Ansett in 2002.
“The government is not in the business of owning an airline. But we do want to see two airlines continue,” the finance minister, Matthias Cormann, told Radio National on Tuesday morning.

so on which month AA are likely to finally make money? certainly not May or June. MCO maybe extended into May. Even if MCO relaxed control on the number of flight will be the last things to relax.
Domestic flights mostly go to Sabah and Sarawak, arrive there need to quarantine for 14 days first. So leisure and business trip are total out of the question.
International flight not like resume even in July. Looking at the major market for AA China banned all foreigner, even if ban relaxed still may retain 14-28 days quarantine. Thailand and Vietnam are the only neigbour with case going down. Philiphine, SG, Indon all have cases still surging and maybe 2-3 month later only can be cleared.
The Raya and Gawai peak travel season for AA in May and June are certainly not going to be making money this year.
Do you expect December year end travel season to be the time where AA finally make money this year? How many will be willing to travel with family? What if there is a 3rd of 4th wave as it is winter in the Northern Hemisphere and peak pneumonia season.

LONDON (Reuters) - The chief executive of easyJet (EZJ.L) said when flying restarts after the coronavirus crisis recedes planes are likely to operate with the middle seat empty due to social distancing regulations.
He also told reporters on a call on Thursday that the airline would stay cash positive in the event that its fleet was forced to stay grounded for nine months, and should the grounding last longer, it would be able to seek additional funding.

Global airlines are on the hook for US$35 billion in refunds from unused tickets, worsening a cash crunch that is likely to see some carriers go bankrupt. That prompted the global industry body to plead with travellers to accept travel vouchers instead.
According to projections made by the IATA, air carriers are likely to register a net loss of US$39 billion from April to June. Airlines typically have a cash reserve of about two months’ cash.

Coronavirus: EasyJet grounds entire fleet of planes due to virus
The pandemic has had a severe impact on airlines, its boss Jonathan Hinkles told the BBC's Tom Burridge.
He said that any airline saying it could survive without government help "would probably be lying".
EasyJet said its cabin crew would be furloughed, with staff paid 80% of their wage from 1 April through the government's job retention scheme.

SINGAPORE/SYDNEY: Singapore Airlines Ltd said it had secured up to S$19 billion ($13 billion) of funding to help see it through the coronavirus crisis and expand afterward, in a sign of confidence travel demand will eventually return.
As many carriers around the world look for cash to weather the crisis, Singapore Airlines' majority shareholder, state-fund Temasek Holdings [TEM.UL], said it would underwrite the sale of shares and convertible bonds for up to S$15 billion. Singapore's biggest bank DBS Group Holdings Ltd provided a S$4 billion loan.
"This transaction will not only tide SIA (Singapore Airlines) over a short term financial liquidity challenge, but will position it for growth beyond the pandemic," Temasek International Chief Executive Dilhan Pillay Sandrasegara said.
