Going forward, we expect demand for Lii Hen's products to remain healthy and sales volume to sustain or even improve in FY19. Moreover, the construction works to rebuild the factory that was burned down by the fire incident in 2017 had commenced earlier and normal operations should have resumed in June 2018. However, we note that the recent strengthening of the ringgit would negatively impact Lii Hen's overall performance. In addition, we remain cautious about rising raw materials costs and continued labour shortages in Malaysia pressuring earnings. Taking these factors into account, we are forecasting a conservative adjusted EPS of 33.50 sen for FY19.

"A good start"
As expected, BIMB’s 1Q19 net profit jumped 18% YoY, thanks to quicker total income growth as both its Islamic Banking and Takaful divisions have yet again eked out another inspiring quarterly performance. For the rest of 2019, we think any NFM slippage can be proactively managed and its asset quality is expected to remain steady. Also, financing growth is still predicted to stay above industry average and the robust Takaful business is expected to chug along. Forecasts are unchanged. Retain BUY with GGM-TP of RM5.20, based on 1.60x 2019 P/B.

Group (“Takaful Malaysia”) recorded a 33.5% higher PBZT of RM113.3 million, compared

the corresponding period last year. The growth came mainly from higher sales of credit-
related products.
General Takaful’s gross earned contributions rose to RM204.2 million, an increase of 12.0%
compared to the corresponding period last year. The growth came mainly from fire class.

Dear valued clients,
I decided to cut loss on Dayang and Naim.
I sold all Dayang at 0.965 and Naim at 0.825 respectively. I have intention to buy back Dayang and Naim if the price is low enough.
I believe there will be force selling and foreign funds are getting out in next few days especially Dayang.
I still have not given up hope on Dayang and Naim.

$BIMB / 5258 (BIMB HOLDINGS BERHAD) - Dark horse in the banking sector. 10 Key Takeaways from BIMB AGM.
Took some time out to visit BIMB AGM today. Been impressed with their growth story and want to see if it's a stock I'd invest for long term. Also met @acabks there, I'll add my version to his here hahaha.
Here goes:
1) BIMB has the highest ROE % in the whole banking industry in 2018
2) It's currently at its lowest cost to income ratio, a roadmap to sustainable earnings. This is showcased by BIMB average per annum salary. The group employs more than 5000 employees, and their average per annum salary is at RM 70,000 - below industry average
3) The group had already complied with NSFR - means it has "quality & stable deposit" as defined by the regulators - This compliance is derived from having 59% of its CASA from retail & SMEs (considered stable deposit) and long term funding & obligation (RM 1.5b) from Cagamas, etc...
4) In 2018, it made its highest ever dividend payment in Ringgit terms
5) Its stake in $TAKAFUL / 6139 (SYARIKAT TAKAFUL MALAYSIA KELUARGA BERHAD) / business from Takaful and its other non-interest income constitute half of total revenue and is growing rapidly (Takaful reported 30% increase in earnings recently)
6) BIMB had transmitted 0.13% of its funding cost to its clients late last year, or +0.13% to its revenue. This have not have any significant impact to its loan volume or growth
7) This is why the CEO thinks that recent rate cut by BNM have "neutral impact to BIMB financial performance, albeit it having temporary impact on earnings" (+0.13% - 0.25% to bottom line)
8) Going into 2019, Q1 financing growth is within expectation, impairment ratio is the same as 2018. Strategy going into 2019 is to continue to grow consumer banking & SME banking, to grow fee based activity by 12%, and to continue digitalisation initiative
9) Biggest risk of 2019 is economic environment from trade war, further OPR cut, digitralisation. CEO also mentions that deposit growth is going to be challenging.
10) Did you know? That Islamic Banking annual growth rate in the Past 10 years is at 14.5% as compared to conventional banking growth rate of 5.6%? And Islamic banking market share had grown from 15.9% to 26.8% in the same period.
Verdict:
Before today, BIMB has always been out of my radar. But it's now in my watchlist. The banking industry and theme has been out of favour in recent times post GE, but Islamic banking is still on the way up at double digit growth. It's stake in Takaful is a major asset as takaful is really hitting off. BIMB is rather a simple in what is normally a very complex banking business. This is not a bad thing.
CEO Mr Muazzam looks very much a composed & knowledgable leader. And from the tone, I think they should have a good Q1 2019 earnings result.
