US retail sales, manufacturing data point at firming economy
A gauge of US consumer spending rose solidly in June, in the latest sign that the
economy ended the second quarter on a firmer footing. That momentum appeared to
have carried into the third quarter, with other data showing factory activity in New
York state expanded sharply in July. The Commerce Department said core sales, which
strip out automobiles, gasoline, building materials and food services, increased 0.6%

Fed says economy rebounding as it trims bond purchases
The Federal Reserve said growth is bouncing back and the job market is improving as
it continued to reduce the monthly pace of asset purchases. “Economic activity is
rebounding in the current quarter and will continue to expand at a moderate pace,”
Fed Chair Janet Yellen said. Even with declines in unemployment, “a broader
assessment of indicators suggests that underutilization in the labor market remains

Thai operation fror Salamander in itself reported a profit after tax of USD209million.if this level is sustained (expect to be better) then SONA's share for this year will be USD80million/2 = USD 40million = RM120million profit

EPS = 0.082 from 2nd half FY14.

15xPER = RM1.23/share

The US Dollar loan is now very very cheap at +/- 0.53 + 0.5 = 1.03 % ( 0.5% is the approximate margin charged for a secured loan, since Sona already has oil in production ). For a 5 years loan, the libor rate may be slightly higher. Therefore, I am looking at an all in rate of below 1.5 %.

Bro Hawk, i have the same opinion as you that Sona will fly like a supersonic jet when more information is released. USD loan is now very very cheap & since it's a secured loan against proven oil output from bualuang, i am looking at an all-in-rate if less than 1.5%.

Banks will be financing a secured loan against proven oil output from bualuang, thus Sona may even obtained a very very cheap usd loan margin of only 50 basis points. The loan all-in-rate may even be lower than 1.5%.

Sona have not clarify the rate of return for the 40% bualuang oil sale but what i can say is the US dollar loan is very cheap, easily below 3%. Sona will not be worry on the foreign exchange fluctuations like MAS or Air Asia bcoz it's a natural hedging as oil is quoted & sell in USD.

USD rate is quoted after London InterBank Offer Rate (LIBOR) instead if Kuala Lumpur Intervank Offer Rate (KLIBOR) and the USD rate is very much cheaper at the moment. A 12 month USD now is about 0.5335 % & banks will add a margin. I am looking at an all-in rate of less than 3%, as the rate will be higher if the loan is for 5 years or so..

When SONA borrow is most likely at klibor plus mah....!! 
SONA can borrow at klibor plus 2% approximately 6% pa. 
Therefore....return of 8% pa is still positive to SONA mah...!! 

SAY u have Rm 500m give u return of 8% pa = Rm 40m 
U have Rm 400m loan give u net return of 2% pa = Rm 8m 
Total return of Rm 48m 

PE about 12 to 14x.....for SONA ok loh....!!

No economic bubble, says RAM
Malaysia’s economy is not in a bubble as high household debt continues to weigh on
consumption and spending, RAM Holdings Bhd said. However, it believes that
household debt remains largely contained. According to Bank Negara Malaysia’s

China manufacturing gauge rises to five-month high
China’s manufacturing expanded at the fastest pace in five months, in a sign the
government’s measures to counter an economic slowdown are gaining traction. The
Purchasing Managers’ Index (CPMINDX) rose to 50.8 in May, the National Bureau of
Statistics and China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing said yesterday in Beijing,
compared with the 50.7 median estimate of analysts surveyed by Bloomberg News.

Datasonic proposes to build medical database
Datasonic Group has plans in the pipeline to sustain its double-digit profit growth,
and they include implementing a centralized system to collate the medical records of
Malaysians to be stored in their identity cards, plus an integrated information system
for all public hospitals to share patient data. Speaking after the group’s AGM,
chairman General Tan Sri Dr Mohamed Hashim Mohd Ali said the group has proposed
to the government to install electronic medical records (EMR) into MyKads. To ensure

Vincent Tan disposes of 14% in BAuto
Tan Sri Vincent Tan Chee Yioun sold a total of 115m shares or 14% of Berjaya Auto
(BAuto) shares on Tuesday. The identity of the buyer was not disclosed at press time.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, BAuto said Tan’s Berjaya Group had disposed of the
block via a direct business transaction. While it did not list the price for the shares,
Bloomberg data showed multiple smaller blocks changed hands at RM2 per share or
RM226.15m in total on Tuesday. This left Berjaya Group with 427.88m BAuto shares,
