SHARE prices on Bursa Malaysia are expected to trade higher halfway through this week, based on keen interest shown by domestic and foreign players on selected blue-chip counters in the past week, said analysts.
They said the sluggish performance of the local bourse in last week’s four trading days was mainly led by extended profit-taking in second- and lower-liners, which affected sentiment, but this trend is expected to turn around this week.
Analysts said there was strong interest in key blue-chip stocks, mostly those in the utilities, energy and finance industries, last week, and this is anticipated to continue this week. This could see the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) breaking through the 1,900-point psychological level.
