UndukNgadau About 15 years. It's the jewel in my crown!
2021-06-29 15:19 | Report Abuse
UndukNgadau - Yeah you save a bit in terms of commission & slightly cheaper. It's petty la. In the long run, I suggest that if you like the share just buy it at market price.
Don't be like my wife - If something cost 20 - ask for 19.90; if it cost 19.90 - ask for 19.80; if it cost 1.00 - ask for 95 sen. If house in Damansara I want to sell for 10 sen, you'll ask for 5 sen. It goes on and on. The market price is never ever the right price!!

UndukNgadau - It's odd you say that you will take part in the DRIPS. A few AGMs ago I opposed the Co from embarking on this although I lost overwhelmingly.
Think about it - it's totally illogical. The Co painstakingly and aggressively does buybacks so that the EPS may improve which will cause share price to rise. However they propose DRIPS that will negate and reverse the effects of all the buybacks.
WHY? WHY? Enlighten me please.

James Yeo - Quote from Hong Leong Investment Bank
"We expect a modest recovery in its 4Q21 results despite the rising Covid-19 cases in Malaysia as its outlets are still allowed to operate."
What nonsense! We know that all outlets are closed.

I disagree Fabien - you don't overpay. The market price already reflects this high CPO price & any prospective movements (per Efficient Market Hypothesis). In conclusion if you pay market price then it's a fair compensation for both parties. Maybe a slight premium to seal the deal.
Anyway the recent reports indicate that CPO prices are way off their peaks.

What an overpriced acquisition!!
Net Asset per share = 1.34; Usually plantation co's shares trade below NTA. To add to insult, the Co made losses for the last 2 years despite stratospheric CPO prices.
Complete rubbish of a co. This is the 2nd overpayment after its holding co paid a massive premium for CCM. Is there some kind of political mileage or some private backdoor arrangement in this charity?

If they offer me 9.70, I'll take it - 7 sen keep the change la

This co is generally well managed and has fundamentals so it should be safe to hold for the long term. Of course the management does at times suffer from hare-brained ideas like excessive expansion.

Called the co sect office - Bursa granted 1 month extension due to Covid. So by end of Jun 21.
2021-05-28 03:21 | Report Abuse
Yeah yeah. This co trades at very low PE so don't expect much in terms of share price gain. If investors don't find Petron attractive then management should start flexing its muscles in the form of dividends.
Consider this - a 1 sen dividend translates into a mere RM2.7m. Co is paying only a total of RM13.5m with 5 sen. Compared to cash balance of RM171m and massive reserves of RM1.7b, the dividend is so very minute.
It's such an anticlimax after waiting for 1 year. Surely it can do better than that!

Isn't Petron & Petdag business very similar?
Puzzling that their share price seem to be oppositely corelated?

There's definitely more than meets the eye. Teh guy doesn't need the money. The 4 sen dividend is enough to meet his yearly needs, more so during lockdown.
Private deals perhaps between major shareholders to deep fry the minority shareholders.

The management committed a tactical blunder to expand production lines - as if the demand for gloves is ever increasing to infinity. They've gone nuts. Economics 101 - oversupply will drive prices down.
What to do with surplus money?? - Share buyback or Declare dividends - not build more factories
Everybody else got onto the bandwagon.
Now we're stuck with an oversupply.

Agree with Mc_Wei - it could be a compliance thing.
Also agree with "nuke" as of this offer fiasco, it had caused a panic amongst investors. Based on the volume of trade, this predator had bought a big chunk of shares for a song!
Thus it was rewarding for him.

I've never heard of offer far below market price before. It's usually far above. Normally the target co share price will shoot through the roof.
He's doing the same trick as in Kian Joo. Drive the share price down (or in this case keep it down) & then offer a small premium over it.

If no dividend announcement by end of April, then no dividends.
However the management still continue to get their fat paychecks.
Instead of working for us shareholders, we are funding their lifestyle.
Hook or crook, they should pay dividends just like hook or crook, they get their salaries.

Bonus issue seem to cause excitement & rise in share price. The only theoretical basis for such a phenomenon is that it enhances trading liquidity hence the term liquidity premium. But for a very liquid low cost share like Myeg, there's really not much to gain.
If it's bonus on expensive share like Nestle than the liquidity premium would be very pronounced.

Whilst it's nice to hear an informed insider adding more of his skin to the company, it does not necessarily imply that the company is worth more than the price he paid it for.
Remember Top Glove when on hindsight, it appeared that the insiders bought a chunk of shares at pretty exorbitant prices. They could also be carried away by optimism & hype.

I don't understand this counter.
Despite the current aggressive share buybacks plus earlier cancellation of 10% treasury shares and a pretty good performance including CPO prices going through the roof, the share price still stuck at pathetically low levels.
WHAT IS THE MATTER WITH THIS SHARE?

Unbeknownst to all, short sellers are slowly, without raising an alarm, squaring off their positions and taking profits now.
They are hoping that the general investing public are gripped more by fear than greed so that they can pick up shares for cheap.

If you are dissatisfied with the Co's absence of dividends, then I suggest that we bombard the Co Secretary which the official website holds out as follows ....
"Petron welcomes enquiries from analysts and institutional investors. Please call .... 03-20828459 manoj.devadasan@petron.com.my"
No use complaining here. We must be heard!

Only the very worst companies do not pay a dividend after keeping shareholders waiting for 1 year.
It's especially important for cos with fundamentals but share price not performing like Petron - it has fundamentals, enough cash but trades at single digit PE.
So the bottom line is that the Board has delivered capital losses & no dividends. It's bullying minority shareholders.
Maybe they want to drive the share price down & then buy it for a song.

Not a single KLK share.
If you like KLK, buy the holding co BK. Why? Trades at a much lower PE, has other profitable activities, fairly good dividends and very aggressive share buybacks.
However setback is unlike KLK, lower liquidity & like KLK, some questionable large scale investments. Maybe they can't say why. I can only hope they pay off.
