LOL @

Prudent2 Pang72..
The rise in crude oil prices is not beneficial to Refiner like HRC. On the other hand, lower crude prices will have a positive effect on refining margins. HRC's last two years (2015/2016) profits clearly reflected such a trend.
To have a better insigh into such behavior, please read Energy Insights by McKinsey.
HRC will continue to chalk up impressive profits under current low crude prices scenario.

guys, ive seen the calculations and boy are they complicated, and i think very vulnerable to errors. let me simplify this. Last qtr, Petdag earnings growth was very muted compared to Hengyuan. Petdag is a pure retailer and Hengyuan is a pure refiner. so it is very clear who the winner is in this cyclical recovery, i.e. YOU'd wanna be on the refinery side.

hence petronm which owns both refinery and retail, is what you should want right now.

Lastly, petroncorp philipines which is also a refiner and retailers, has posted record profits. which is the exact business profile of petronm, so record quarter, record shareprice. the price now is justified what. why everyone worry it touch or go below 7 again?

the numbers are way too complicated. and might make one make a mistake in trading

since the media release was using the word "consolidated figures", then it doesn't make sense to equity account the remainder 26.6% of petron they do not own. so reading in context, scenario 1 is not applicable.

historical 3 year high results was 1.99m profit. it ran to 75 sen. today announced 1.85 profit, so i think cannot justify breaking the historical high of 75 liao lor. furthermore, they didnt give another dividend to push up share price. its closing in on 4% yield already.

Stock

2017-02-20 16:51 | Report Abuse

government approves the pricing for petrol, and they get their funding through petronas, who in turn has more than 70 percent stake in petdag. the crack spread will normalize with the ringgit effects very soon, or else BN will have no money to run government or do other stuff. so the worry about crack spreads being affected by forex will be taken cared of very quickly if it exists.

well then you might be saying the profit is not as high as market hoped so the share price has no further momentum. but i think if petronm can surprise with the dividend, it will support or elevate the share price. otherwise, the FCF alone is 96sen if not mistaken which is only slightly less than 5x at current level. thats insanely cheap. (9m fcf was 71 sen.)

masteel hoarding the inventories for after protection safeguard measures are in effect, which took place in the last week of september. so the full margin improvements, and local demand will only start in the oct-dec qtr.

Stock

not only will masteel gain from price increase, the market share of local players will increase too given higher import tariffs, and weaker ringgit currently. so masteel will have price and volume growth. the new bukit raja plant is also operational just in time to reap the advantages

ML Global said the proposed acquisition would see its order book increase from RM80mil to approximately RM1.60bil.

Mlglobal is a totally different monster now. it needs to be rerated.

Stock

2016-09-14 20:12 | Report Abuse

based on the latest qtr, construction segment assets was 96m. so selling at a price tag of 225 mil is a good deal. because it was sold at a premium of 130m or 21sen per share for LBS shareholders. if mlglobal shares go higher from here because of the new acquisition, the value unlocked is above 21sen per share.

Stock

2016-09-14 19:07 | Report Abuse

Additionally on the construction division, it's annual earnings growth is flattish. So being able to sell at 17-19 PE is already unlocking tremendous value. 17-19 PEs are only reserved for growing companies valuation. Thus they basically sold a flat earnings company at a growth rate PE. Is good.
