Any country that impose a windfall tax on a company (selling non-commodity products) is basically telling companies to make losses because if you are profitable, gov will tax you until lao sai.
So given glove sector is not a commodity sector and companies make money from various technological differentiation and supply chain model along with multiple ASP pricing strategy, windfall tax cannot be imposed. Its illegal, period. IT can even be challenged in court if need be.
Plus, many companies will leave malaysia and probably delist. so if the gov really wants to take the profit from glove companies through this means, then prepare for an economic downfall because job losses will spike and many companies will leave local scene and expand somewhere else. 95% of the companies in BURSA is not doing well at all and some is on the brink of PN17. kill the golden geese?
