Your 55 cents may very well come thru in a not too distant future as it's no longer a high dividend yield play anymore coupled with it's bleak outlook, i.e. dwindling viewer subscription and advertising revenues.

Outright sell. High dividend yielding play no longer valid. Hard to see how it is able to sustain above 70 cents. The sun is going down on Astro without much doubt!

The Lim's family has forseen it all, the inevitable will one day arrive. No wonder they've been shifted their assets aggressively to overseas destinations like USA, UK, Singapore and HK. And Japan will be next. With their efforts to reduce their assets concentration locally, even if they're forced to write off their gambling biz on the hill one fine day, they will be hurt but they'll be still ultra rich as bulk of their family wealth would have already well preserved under their gaming biz overseas. However for the minority shareholders of GenM, it'll spell disaster and the loss would be irreversible. Hence, to invest locally, I would always prefer the more diversified parent company Genting, which poses lower risk vis-a-vis GenM.

No overseas travel for Malaysian till end August. Another setback for AAX!

Nope. Irrelevant actually. Unless it's Pharma being taken private, which is unthinkable as its parent company is not flushed with cash, to say the least.
2020-06-02 13:25 | Report Abuse
Nothing. Pharma will remain a subsidiary, only that Pharma's stake held by Boustead shall be consolidated under LTAT, that's all.

The Edge reported that BJcorp suspension is for it to acquire Singer's stake from VT.

Perhaps that explains the 2-day suspension for BJcorp as BJland may get suspended tomorrow, if all goes well.

It's worthy of long term hold. Expect full year dividends of 16 cents. Right stock to have especially during this pandemic period. Not surprised if price surpassed $3 in the second half of the year, if not sooner. Even then, it's still cheap!

Plenty for you at 1.90 but for a limited time only. LoL!

Ya once EPF is done with their selling, and even at $1.20 the stock is still going to yield at least a 5% dividend yield, taking a conservative estimate. Astro is perfect to stay as part of their pension portfolio offering good dividend yields amidst the prevailing low interest environment. What are the rationals behind their recent incessant selling of the stock, I wonder?

it's the first time in the last 18 months where it closed higher than BJCorp (0.20 vs 0.195). Hmm, something interesting is unfolding...

Agree. Furthermore, amidst public health crisis, the government is expected to allocate more funds to hospitals, which will augur well for Phamaniaga.

nobody knows why there's a heavy selling on the stock except insiders. but what we can tell is that at current level there's value in this stock and it's near historical low. As Mat Cendana commented we didn't buy at above $1.00 nor we caught it at the all time low of 70 cents, therefore we should be comfortably holding it. Just think of the many institutional investors and Astro staff who subscribed to the stock at the IPO level of around $3.00 per share!

Agreed. Flat growth, unexciting to say the least. However at current price, it makes sense to add it to my portfolio just for its attractive dividend yields. Even when assume annual EPS slides to 10 cents taking a conservative view, with a dividend payout of 60%, a 6 cents giving a 6.8% yield which is not bad at all given the very low interest rate environment. In current hostile market, it's a safer bet relative to the other penny stocks. Furthermore, I like the current managemnet under the new CEO who is proactive and cost conscious.

despite cum with dividend, it's one of the very few stocks that registering losses in such a strong market today. EPF selling down its position?
2020-03-16 18:28 | Report Abuse
Wonder how much dividend EPF would pay its member this time next year, or can it even able to pay any if the whole world is stuck in this mired situation.

Seems LRT3 likely to suffer from cost over-run. Previosly as PDP, any cost over-run, just ask the government or Prasarana to top up. But now as a turnkey operator, the risk is with GKent/MRCB. Guess Gkent is the one doing the work but the other partner is a passive partner. Same like many infra projects previously done by Gamuda/MMC. Take a guess which party was doing the actual work whilst the other was just responsible in counting money?

yeap, a dividend yield of about 5% assuming current price of $5.02, not bad at all worthy holding it for medium term capital gain. wonder what all the fuss is about on its rather commendable 2Q performance...

wow! a preliminary review of the 2Q2019 results. Believe not many companies in Bursa are having the practice. Should I praise them for their transparency or heighten my suspicion on the LHI management? With that disclosure, despite technically in an oversold position, believe it could easily plunge below 80 cents.

To break the doldrum, it'll need one big fund such as Public or Hwang to spot the value in BJLand and initiate buying. Just relying on retailers, there's no way to go against VT's fancy.

yup, asking banks to be flexible, instead of being prudent in lending. potential ballooning NPL is of no concerns? or it doesn't matter, if banks fail, the government (the Rakyat) is always there to bail them out!
Just let the property market just rides thru the down cycle and the pains that come with it. The government should stop pampering this special interest or lobby group at all cost!
