First of all, understand the markets. 90% of China's stock exchanges are driven by retailers, compared to about a third in Malaysia. On the contrary, institutional participation is much higher in Bursa than in China. So, it is better not to benchmark Malaysian glove stocks against Intco, but benchmark Intco against Malaysian glove stocks.

Another note, many people say that the sales volume is boosted by the sales tax exemption. If one is to study the quantum of discount before and after the exemption, it is on average 3% savings of 2-3k only. I don't think such a minor discount can drive such strong sales. Therefore, I think it is credible that avoidance of public transport is also responsible in driving the strong sales, playing straight into the private transport theme. Therefore, should the sales tax exemption be removed next year, I think sales should still be resilient at around 20k unit per month.

This is the 2nd time I hear about WHO needs to approve vaccine. That's wrong. The authority to approve vaccine lies with the health ministry of each individual country, not WHO. What this implies is that this entire conversation is all made up by the author. There is no retired fund manager, the author just pluck sources from everywhere to make up a story. Where did the mistake first occurred? It's from the first source which is then repeated here in the imaginary conversation.

I recommend that you read up on uob's latest report on Sri trang. You will find that
1) the pe 9 u mentioned is achieved with a glove asp of only usd 20/1k pieces, way below what Malaysian peers charges
2) they are expected to raise asp by 70% in q3
Doing the math, including a 20% tax and only 50% contribution from their glove segment after the spin off, I have arrived at annualised pe 6 in q3, making it the cheapest glove stock. Also, this ain't no minion, this is a 33 billion per year large cap stock.

Actually it's unlikely Malaysian glove makers can go anywhere else because natural gas is one of their main cost and it is subsidised by the government.

Every country that has its own vaccine development program are securing supplies for their own people first. That include US, UK and Australia. Before the gomen talk about bottling contracts, maybe it's better to ask who is the gomen going to buy vaccine from, and who is going to sell to the msian gomen. Without a committed supply, msia has to queue for it just like every other country that doesn't have their own vaccine.

Just a note. The estimated R0 for Covid is between 2 and 3. This means that to achieve herd immunity, just 50%-67% needs to be immune. So with regards to vaccine with low efficacy of say 65%-75%, such low efficacy is actually quite sufficient to do the job.

The biggest red flag for most of Softbank backed companies is that the valuation of these companies are solely determined by Softbank itself. Say during a capital raising this company is valued at USD 1b, next capital raising a short time later the same company is valued at USD 2b, it is entirely determined by Masayoshi Son himself with no participation from the market. This gives the illusion that Softbank's company is doing very well when in truth the entire thing is cooked up by Masayoshi Son.

A few years ago, Prlexus invested in upstream production of yarn. Until today, this segment is still loss making. Not only is it loss making, it is not even selling raw materials to it's own apparel segment. If you look at inter-segment sales in Q4, inter segment sales of yarn is just RM1m from RM347m apparels revenue. It's bloody pathetic. It's like as if their own apparel division rejects the quality of internally produced yarn. Maybe you want to look into this problem first before jumping on the covid wagon.

moneykj, 'art of balancing' should only be carried out during the quarter, not AFTER the quarter. During the quarter, management can shift delivery dates around the fringes and yes sure that's legal. But if you do that AFTER the quarter, it's fraud.

As we all know, the quarterly profit is not audited, the figures can be adjusted to show that the company is making increasing profit for each of the 4 quarters. For example, its 3rd quarter EPS could be reduced so that its 4th quarter EPS can be more than its 3rd quarter. If the company reported its 4th EPS better than its 3th quarter, more investors will buy instead of selling their holdings on Monday.
R u fking kidding me? Is kyy asking the company to fake its result? Is he out of his fking mind?

More likely reason is that no private investor thinks the current price offer any upside for them to subscribe to the private placement. Ask KYY to subscribe lah, he say can reach RM3.60 what, put his money where his mouth is lah. After all, he gets a nice discount if he coughs up the cash for the private placement.

I think your statement is illogical. Green energy has always been more expensive than dirty energy. That's why those who can afford to do so will invest in green energy like solar, hydro or wind, and those who cannot afford to do so, invests in dirty coal plants. The fact that hydro energy trades at parity to coal energy is shitty news for the coal industry. For if green energy cost the same as dirty energy, no sane country will invest in dirty energy. In fact, last year probably mark the turning point in global climate change awareness that will potentially turn the world increasingly hostile towards fossil fuels especially coal. So those expecting JAKS to trade at similar valuation to MFCB, I think you all need to see how cheap coal miners are to understand where is the world moving in the future. Don't forget there are now increasingly number of banks who refuses to issue loans to any coal related projects as part of their CSR obligation.

Even without a NYSE portfolio, Asian markets like SGX and HKEX offers plenty of great companies too. And you are right, many of Bursa stocks are jaguh kampungs. Many a times we think fair value for such stocks are PE 10, after finding better companies at even better valuation overseas, I starting to think PE 10 is expensive for low moat jaguh kampungs. Over the years, my Bursa portfolio have shrunk while my foreign portfolio expanded due to better quality companies trading at even more compelling valuation. Some winners I have lately are AEM (again), Penguin International, Sunpower and potentially Yangzijiang.

Or, buy a dirt cheap shipbuilder specialising in bulk carriers trading at net cash level, yields 5% in dividends, and have consistently been profitable even through the leanest of years. A company that is the the most profitable shipyard in the world, even when state backed yards in Korea, Singapore and Japan and bleeding red ink. And it's an STI constituent stock.

"Rather than saying long term hold, I prefer the word long term monitor and ignore noise. Weaving in and out of stocks is a great strategy, but it works best when deploying small capital."
I can't argue with that. While I have agility now, it will be eroded over time IF capital continues to grow. If I have what you have, I probably will not be as agile. Having said that, I've expanded to 3 geographical markets to maintain agility even with a much enlarged capital, ie, I am forced to spread out my capital wider to maintain the same investment strategy. For the capital size that you have, your strategy should serve you better.

I'm with Icon8888. Long term hold strategy can make money, weaving in and out of stocks can make even more. And that's not based on TA, but purely FA. And the reason is simple, great stocks don't come cheap, and strong growth are often priced in. However, cheap stocks tend to see massive rerating when business climate changes in their favor. The point is to lose small, but win big. Whereas long term hold on good quality companies requires the company to rerate to ridiculous valuation, like QL at PE 50, to generate big return. I don't have the talent to pin point which company will be the next QL, I'll stay with being a cheapskate. And Choivo, being the real dick that you are, when you post, you are the most sincere person in the whole universe, when other posts, they are all front running. Shit head like you deserves the hate you get.

I do have that suspicion that establishing its own brand it at the cost of OEM/ODM business. In any way, even though IQ Group tries to brand Lumiqs as a somewhat Western brand, the Passive Infra Red (PIR) space is very crowded. Just do a search on PIR sensors in Alibaba and you will see a huge array of products from Chinese manufacturers. I'm also irked by the way IQ Group advertises their products claiming that it saves up to 90% electricity without divulging the basis of that claim. LEDs are about 80% more efficient than Halogens so a simple change from Halogen to LED would be able to meet that 90% goal. Having said that, price has come down a lot so the risk-reward is much better than when it was RM3+ few years ago.

Dig a hole so easy meh? First you need to ensure the base of the hole is lined with impermeable sheet, otherwise the ground water will be contaminated. Second, the hole needs to be huge, big enough to accommodate a mini mountain, that's years of wastes accumulated. Probably gonna cost hundreds of millions, who's gonna pay? If Lynas is not paying, Malaysian tax payers are.
