THE Amanah Saham Malaysia (ASM) fund size will be increased by RM5bil in line with the unity government’s commitment to ensure the equality of multiracial society, according to Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB).

Besides that, the total individual investment limit of Amanah Saham Bumiputra (ASB) and Amanah Saham Bumiputra 2 (ASB2) will be increased to RM300,000 from RM200,000 previously.

“This announcement is in line with PNB’s efforts to continue to encourage the culture of saving and investment among Malaysians.

Maybank is the top holding of both ASB and ASM.

By the way, the absence of prosperity tax will be very good for banks, esp those which pays high dividend.....and the additional investment for ASM and ASB will also be very good for big banks....as these are their top holding.....when they add, it will create more demand....

@jeffchan1901...... haha, I don't have any PBB, was just sharing a general view on banks.

I am a value investor, I feel MBB has got better value, based on i) it is trading at lower PE ii) it is trading at lower price to book value and iii) it pays a higher dividend (yield) .....compared to PBB.

.....but nobody will ever knows how a stock will perform in future.
....just my 2 sen....happy weekend.

Exactly, personally suggesting to sell Genting above 4.90-5.05! And i was right! Genting Berhad shares dropped sharply! If you followed, you should hv cut win and buy back along with me and win big now… cheers!

I heard some of you, unhappy with such unreasonable tumble in Genting share price… James promises will not dispose Genting shares, keep the remaining 95%, continue support Genting Berhad and will let the profits run… Cheers! Happy Weekends!

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 24): The absence of a prosperity tax in the revised Budget 2023 is deemed a ‘huge relief’ for the corporate sector, says Bursa Malaysia chairman Tan Sri Abdul Wahid Omar.

Abdul Wahid opined that another round of prosperity tax could have potentially shaved off 5%-6% of 2023 earnings for KLCI constituents.

“Without prosperity tax being imposed, analysts have a consensus forecast EPS [earnings per share] growth rate of 20.1% for 2023 compared to -1.3% for 2022. This augurs well for the capital market,” he said in a statement on Friday (Feb 24).

The amount is very small versus the total industry, while this is a negative but it's minimal for the total industry.

@ATK, yes I noticed that too.....may be for DBS case, the good had already been priced in before the result....as the stock was at that time trading near its 52 week high.

Banks results should be good.....out after budget on monday is better....no need let ppl politicise by asking for moratorium n prosperity tax...........

KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 30): Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) said its investment in Adani Enterprises’ secondary share offering were “client subscriptions” and, as such, there won’t be any financial impact to the banking group.

“We are aware of the media reports and we do not respond to speculation. However, we would like to clarify that there is no financial impact to Maybank as the subscription to Adani Enterprises were client subscriptions and fully funded by client funds,” it said in an emailed response to questions from The Edge,

“Due to client confidentiality, we are unable to provide details,” it added.

Maybank’s clarification came after various media reported last week that Maybank Securities was allocated a stake in Adani Enterprises’ US$2.5 billion (RM10.6 billion) secondary share offering.

...but I opted to take full DRIP to average down cost.....holding MBB is a long long term investment for its consistent dividend, not for short term capital appreciation....
....so, make sure this is the right stock for you before buying...

.....for high beta, go buy penny stocks or gloves.....stay away from this No.1 blue chips.

.....and I also have the option of taking 580 in cash to yield a return of 7.34% while my cost remained the same and a tiny % dilution vs the increased numbers of company shares.

I used to take full DRIP, to average down my cost (which is now at 7.896) and use the cash portion to calculate my dividend yield.

.....meaning, if say, the company declares 58 sen, comprising 50 sen cash and 8 sen DRIP ....then my net dividend will be 500 divide by 7896 = 6.33%....and my cost of shares is reduced by 8 sen to become 7.816 after dividend.....
....and if next year the company declares the same, then my net yield will be 6.39% due to lower cost of shares......

Yes, Pinky is correct on the tiny % of dilution and a good option/method of calculating dividend yield.
