Fitch Ratings has downgraded Malaysia-based energy-service provider Serba Dinamik Holdings Berhad's (SDHB) Long-Term Issuer Default Rating to 'B-' from 'BB-'. At the same time, we have downgraded SDHB's senior unsecured sukuk due 2022 and 2025 to 'B-' from 'BB-' with a Recovery Rating of 'RR4'. The ratings have been placed on Rating Watch Negative (RWN).

Malaysian state-linked fund management company Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) has expressed "deep concern" about the issues at Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd, which is facing an investigation over unverified contracts.

In a statement emailed to Reuters on Wednesday, PNB, Serba Dinamik's fifth-largest shareholder, said it told the company board of its concerns and that it does not believe there is merit in removing the appointed auditors before finishing the annual audit.

PNB said it reserves its right to vote against any resolution to replace the current auditors

Supercomnet Technologies Bhd (Scomnet) saw its net profit rose 19.2% to RM4.88mil in the first quarter ended March 31 from RM4.09mil a year ago.

Scomnet registered a revenue of RM37.57mil, an increase of 33.46% from RM28.15mil a year ago.

“Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, the company kicked off the year 2021 positively, contributed by strong orders from the medical segment and improved performance from the non-medical segment.

“Moving forward, the medical segment is expected to play an even bigger role supported by the increasing demand from not only cardiovascular, stroke and respiratory devices, but also new segments such as tactical military medical devices,” Scomnet said in a statement.

Scoment said among the growth catalysts for FY2021 would be the commencement of production for one of its new products, namely Rotational Thrombectomy Device for a European company, which has started in the second quarter of 2021.

“This new contract shall act as a new stream of growth for the company and provide long-term earnings visibility,” it added.
