HwangDBS Research has maintained a 'buy' call on UMW Oil & Gas Bhd (UMWOG), with an unchanged target price of RM5.15.
This is based on the almost completion of its jack-up rig called Naga 5, which is being built at Keppel's yard in Singapore, and the company is in talks for longer charters for the jack-up rig beyond its first assignment for Nido Petroleum Philippines Pty Ltd.

In its research note, HwangDBS said UMWOG will be able to receive the Naga 5 jack-up rig by May this year, ahead of its first assignment for Nido Petroleum, which will commence operations in June.

"This is a six week job worth US$7 million to drill the Baragatan prospect on behalf of the SC 63 joint venture. Concurrently, UMWOG is in negotiations with prospective parties to secure a long-term charter for Naga 5," it said.

buy buy buy, i collected more, if you in oil and gas sector, you know rig operating company is making huge profit due to active drilling operations in 2013/2014. More exploration will be done as more oil resources will be needed

(Bernama) -- UMW Oil & Gas Corporation Bhd's unit, UMW Petrodrill (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, has received a letter of intent to award a US$10 million contract from PTTEP Int Ltd Yangon Branch to provide hydraulic workover unit and related services for M9 drilling campaign in Myanmar.

The contract is for 11 firm wells with options for additional wells.

UMW Petrodrill is expected to start operations at Zawtika Field in Martaban Gulf by June.

UMW Oil & Gas Corporation President Rohaizad Darus said the contract secured was in tandem with the company's expansion plan in the oil and gas industry.

"With this new market penetration, we hope for more opportunities to secure contracts in Myanmar, not only for workover services, but also for our drilling and oilfield services.

"Our company will aggressively continue to pursue opportunities to expand our geographical coverage in the Asia-Pacific region as part of our growth plan and revenue diversification strategy," he said in a statement.

PTTEP International is a subsidiary of PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited, a subsidiary of the national oil company of Thailand.

Murphy asset is too hue, don't think Suma can "eat" and the major production field is Kikeh which is deepwater (>1300m water depth), you need a lot of deepwater experienced guys to run the show, not easy and extremely costly. Kikeh field production has been decreasing actually from 160,000bpd to 130,000bpd within the last 5-6yrs, i expect the production rate will decrease again.
