Mr. Leong Seng Wui has been an entrepreneur in the ICT industry for over 13 years. The Board of Sumatec wishes to announce that the Rakuscheknoye Oil and Gas Field Joint Operation Agreement with CaspiOilGas LLP whereby Sumatec is the designated operator, as stipulated under the Joint Investment Agency Agreement and Investment Agreement signed on 2 August 2013, is now effective.



Sumatec is currently making arrangement with contractors to mobilize the first rig to the field. The rig is expected to start operation by middle of January 2014 to commence workover operations on 11 wells.

Two 16-metre tugboats were delivered to Boustead Naval Shipyard (BNS) in Lumut yesterday, which will allow Boustead Heavy Industries Corporation Bhd (BHIC) to provide harbour support services for the BNS basin and other support duties for the Royal Malaysian Navy.

BHIC entered into a design collaboration arrangement with United Kingdom-based Macduff in June 2011 and has recently renewed the contract for two more years.

The tugboats , costing RM11.5 million, were designed by Macduff and built by BHIC at its Boustead Langkawi Shipyard, BHIC said.

"With our ongoing arrangement with Macduff, we can tap the growing market for these craft in Malaysia and the region, and offer design from an internationally renowned company and construction by a leading Malaysian shipbuilder," said BHIC executive director David Berry.

KUALA LUMPUR 25 Jun - Kerajaan negeri Kedah hari ini mengesahkan hasrat untuk membangunkan pelabuhan Kuala Muda kerana rancangan itu telah lama wujud.

Menurut pegawai kanan kepada Menteri Besar Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir, rancangan untuk membangunkan pelabuhan tersebut, pertama kali pernah dibangkitkan pada 1995.

"Pada awalnya, kita mahu memajukan Kuala Kuah tetapi kemudian mendapati Kuala Muda lebih sesuai," katanya kepada Utusan Malaysia, di sini hari ini.

Mengikut fakta sejarah, Kuala Muda pernah menjadi pelabuhan utama bagi Kedah ratusan tahun dahulu, terutama dalam dagangan dengan Siam dengan sungainya mengalir terus ke Laut China Selatan dan fungsinya masih penting sehingga ke hari ini.

Dalam satu pengumuman kepada Bursa Malaysia Khamis lepas, Luster Industries Bhd. mengesahkan hasratnya untuk meneroka pembangunan dan penambahbaikan ke atas pelabuhan Kuala Muda tetapi masih belum menerima sebarang pengesahan dari kerajaan negeri Kedah.

Syarikat itu baru-baru ini, dijemput oleh kerajaan negeri supaya mengkaji projek itu.

Dalam konteks ini, pegawai tersebut enggan mengulas lanjut mengenai urus niaga tersebut.

"Saya boleh mengulas mengenai pelan pembangunan di Kedah tetapi tidak mengenai hal-hal lain,'' ujar beliau.

Semalam, Bernama memetik Pengarah Urusan Luster, Lim See Chea sebagai berkata, Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al Bukhary berkemungkinan akan menjadi rakan teknikal Luster di dalam projek pembangunan pelabuhan Kuala Muda.

Katanya, Syed Mokhtar dilihat sebagai rakan teknikal terbaik jika diambil kira beliau kini memiliki Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas dan Pelabuhan Johor melalui MMC Corp Bhd.

Pelabuhan Kuala Muda menghubungkan tanah besar negeri itu dengan pulau Langkawi melalui hubungan laut.

Adalah difahamkan bahawa pembangunan pelabuhan itu akan memanfaatkan Langkawi, terutama sekali di Pulau Rebak, yang akan membantunya menjadi satu daripada destinasi percutian utama di dunia.

Pada 2011, DRB-Hicom Bhd., satu syarikat yang dikuasai oleh Syed Mokhtar dilaporkan sedang merangka pelan untuk menjadikan Pulau Rebak sebagai pusat tarikan percutian bagi golongan kaya dan terkenal.

Kumpulan itu mahu membangunkan satu konsep 'butik' percutian mewah di sana bagi disepadankan dengan "The Residences,' 'Bvlgari Residences' dan 'Banyan Tree Ungasan' di Bali, 'Six Senses Private Residences' di Vietnam, 'The Yamu' di Phuket, 'W Residence' di Koh Samui dan lain-lain.
