Actually strong USD may not be a good thg for gloves cause some of their loans are denominated in USD. Low USD also doesn’t mean lower profit cos they have price mechanism set in to counter these type of fluctuations. But low oil price is definitely a plus for them since this is part of a component in the raw materials used

Which one is a better buy? CMSB or HSL? My 1st choice is CMSB cause they are practically in all major industries in Sarawak whereas HSL exposure is a little more limited. The only problem is how is CMSB’s management? Professional hired to run it or a lot of political appointees? Appreciate feedback from forummers who have been long time in these 2 counters

Actually those who made hefty profit from harta, tglove n kossan are now switching their funds to Supermax due to it being laggard for so long. Just check the PE of these 4 stocks to get an idea how much Supermax should be priced now. Supermax management has also taken the steps to diversify to another consumable product to add value to their share. As such investors should see a lot of positive quarters in the coming years.

Regarding how to be a millionaire from investing in Hartalega which I shared earlier, this lady could have started with 12k shares initially. After a few rounds of 1:1 bonus, it grew close to 100k. Harta issued too many rounds of bonus-Year 2010, 2012, 2015 and 2018. I have no data showing it at 1.70 cos mine is up to 5 years only. So it means she has been holding her shares for quite some time. Hence, it is definitely more worthwhile to put you money in shares than FD at the rate of this capital appreciation. The question is can Supermax duplicate such CAGR?

Thot sing to Stanley or Cheryl cos they are the one building the business from scratch. The daughter's journey just started, hopefully she can bring Supermax to the next level with her vision on contact lenses. Her work experience in US should stand her in good stead. I also heard rumors Stanley got two very capable sons. Never seen or heard about his other children cause Cecile is the one in the frontline.

My guess was this lady was looking to switch to another potential share (that’s how she ended up in Supermax AGM). Met a few interesting ppl during this year AGM too. That is why I always make it a point to attend AGM- to meet same like minded investors and to learn new things. I also find you can gauge the company’s past, present & future performance through the AGM’s atmosphere. IgbReits AGM mood was very upbeat & happy with the only complain being “cannot get car park”. So it was a good complain in a sense! Uem one was the worst this year! So what I did was dump Uem and add more IgbReits.

Let me share one secret- sometimes if I am interested in a particular company, I will buy 1 lot just before their agm to enable me to attend, see & hear the company’s potential. Just 1 is enuf. If good, will add more. If no good, either will dump it or hold until the following year to see any improvements. If still not good, will cross off this company forever from my list. That way my money is not tied down too long in a useless company’

Met a lady investor during 2017 Supermax AGM. She was very nice sharing how they became millionaires due to buying Hartalega shares. When Harta dropped to 1.70 donkey years ago, they dump all into it and after a few rounds of bonuses & dividends they have become millionaires. So I calculated and guessed they have a total of 100,000 as of end 2017. At a price of 9.50 end of Nov 17, I can imagine their excitement. After another round of bonus in Mar 2018 they should have 200,000 by now. At Harta current price of 6.29, it means their investment grew another 25% this year!

I have no idea when or how much she invested initially but it was very encouraging hearing her story cause it helps me in holding on even when the price of Supermax drop end December 17. In fact I added more at 1.82 and still add along the way until today cause it is very hard to find good value shares nowadays.

What I hope to share here is sometimes it’s best to hold long terms if you believe the share has great value and potential capital appreciation

Went for their AGM 2016, 2017 & 2018. Rafidah Aziz was the best chairman cos she is very witty and able to steer the meeting well. Hi Mneo, you said Supermax is expensive at this current price in view of the poor market sentiments. So wouldn't this make the rest such as Harta, Topglove and Kossan even more expensive (overvalued)? Based on the above figure I put up showing Supermax price at potentially 2.60 after ex, it is still very much lower than Kossan which is at 4.35 having more or less the same number of shares. In addition, this 2.60 is based on Supermax price topping at 4.60 before ex. With current price of 3.45, I thought it has a lot of rooms to grow....my 2cents worth of opinion...

But I digress a bit from my point which is in terms of growth, I believed Supermax has the most growth potential amongst the big 4. So it is a good stock to accumulate for long term, not speculative.

Supermax is a very much undervalue stock at this juncture. It has a lot of room for future growth in comparison to the rest of the glove companies. Here are the reasons why'-
1) new venture into a high profit business- contact lenses business is in fact a higher revenue earner compared with glove. This is based on a few reasons- no labor issue (cos using robots no overtime problem, labor shortage, levy...). The number of contact lenses user worldwide is increasing yearly (look at the number of young kids with their smart devices-future contact lenses users).

2) They are currently awaiting to enter into China market which is an even bigger market. If and when they can enter, contact lenses production is expected to increase to 1B. Supermax did mention they have the capacity to produce this amount during the recent AGM

3) Supermax currently supply 40% of NHS gloves (UK hospitals). Hopefully with the current problem with one of it competitor, Supermax will be given a higher quota...

4) They are refurbishing their current factories in order to ramp up productions in the near future. This translates into a cost effective use of current factories. Sorry, they did mention the figures but I forgot the number...

Well there are a lot more reasons why Supermax will be one of the best growth stock to look forward to in 2019. So even if market is down, glove and contact lenses are still an essential and consumable products neede worldwide

Simple comparison among the big 4

Harta - SI-3.328B PE-46.88 EPS-13.29 Price 6.20
TGlove - SI-2.561B PE-31.56 EPS-34.33 Price 5.36
Kossan - SI-1.279B PE-29.98 EPS-28.77 Price 4.35
Supermx- SI-680.1M PE-21.15 EPS-16.24 Price 3.45

Supermx after bonus issue will have 1.360B share issued and an ex-price of about 1.75 (based on today's closing). Lets say it's ex is higher at 2.30 (based on 4.60). This means it is nearly half of its closest competitor price which is Kossan at 4.35.

During the recent AGM, they mentioned about using robotics in the production of contact lens. One very interesting point was they compared Supermax hiring only 60 employees to produce 70million of contact lens as opposed to a Singapore manufacturer hiring 300 staffs. That goes to show their state of the art technology which helps in cutting down manpower/labor problems.

Insas future direction:-
- Tesla electric vehicle
- Fin tech (ventured in 2012, so not much results as yet)
- Bio tech (some work in progress, not the time to announce yet)

Impression fr the AGM- only word I can think of is ambivalent. Many Sh brought out the pittance dividends paid even though company has the cash to give out. BOD is of the opinion that the available cash of 200mil can be better spend for future needs/ expansion. Due to current worldwide economic uncertainties, BOD said this cash will give them better negotiation power should opportunity arise. In other word, Cash is King. Insas "seems" to have the potential for growth but a number of their undertakings are a hit and miss kind of things. So very hard to make out whether this company is hold or sell for now. One of the Executive directors I thought is worth his salt is Dato Dr Tan Seng Chuan who is heading the IT division. He is also the ex VChairman of Inari.

One shareholder brought up the issue that Supermax has been doing consistent share buy back and suggested that these treasury shares to be cancelled in order to enhance the share value. Stanley explained that they have no intention to do so currently cause they can place these shares to institution buyers as a way to raise fund should they need the funds for future expansion. Also 45% of their shares are in the hands of these institutions and some of them are retirement funds. Hence the need to grow the money wisely and prudently. He also stressed on the fact that before they venture into contact lenses business, they did a lot of research to make sure of its feasibilities.

Karex is condom kinglah! Why wanna go and compete with established player? Contact lenses may be the next best thing cause its highly automated. Look at the furniture manufacturer as an example. One of the reason some of them declaring lower profit is due to "lower than expected production volume and margin due to shortage of foreign labour" (HLBinvest on Homeritz). Lets face the reality that in a few years time, Malaysia will definitely have labor problems due to : rm no value=foreign labor choose not to work here, labor cost go up=erodes profit margin.

Went to Supermax AGM yesterday. To add on to some of the above:-
1. Stanley mentioned they have ample lands next to their US distribution centre. So they can build their contact lenses factory to take advantage of the corporate tax cut from 39% to 15% should Trump keep to his election promises.
2. The reason Supermax ventured into contact lenses business was due to higher profit margin and bigger market. Stanley did mentioned some figures but sound system in Sheraton was quite poor, so didn't managed to catch the figures he gave. Bigger market is attributed to these reasons-contact lenses are now highly disposable items (daily/weekly or monthly use),it comes in many colors/varieties, used by billions of people worldwide (as not limited to medical world only). The advantage Supermax has is that they already have established distribution channel selling their gloves, so they are tapping into these channels to market their new products. They already got the license in some countries (US, HK n Japan) and are in the midst of getting the license in other countries. He said every countries has their own rules and regulations as regards to selling the contact lenses, hence they need to apply and get the permit before they can sell in these countries. But the ball is set rolling in many countries already.
3) Stanley emphasized a lot on automation as the way forward in gloves and contact lenses manufacturing. This will cut down on labour cost and is more efficient in the long run. Hence they have embark on hiring more engineers in their factory to ensure this vision is achieved.

My own impression on the whole AGM:- The reason I went to the AGM is because I hold this share and was thinking of selling it. So I wanted to hear and see for myself how the BOD are running the company. My take is if I have more funds, I will definitely put into Supermax cause it is a growing company with a very visionary head to lead it. The company is run with the belief that money entrusted to them is for them to grow and multiply (responsibility and accountability). Kudos to Supermax BOD and staff!

TG is a very interesting cos it has a wide margin to play with. Some days it can fluctuate 10-20sen within a day, so over the course of 1 trading month you can find it trading from 4.76-5.14 (example derived fr I3). With such wide margin, there's lots of room to play with. So wait for it to go down 1st, then will buy some. Now not many issues; zika news & USD already factor in, so will either stagnant there or drop down.
