Datuk Phan Ying Tong clarifies role in Oriental Bank Plc in Cambodia

Datuk Phan Ying Tong has clarified that his collaboration with G Capital Bhd and others in setting up a full-fledged commercial bank in Cambodia will be undertaken under his personal capacity.
“While I have previously served as Public Bank Bhd’s regional head for Indo-China operations, I no longer represent the bank in any role following my resignation,” he said in a brief statement sent to Khmer Times.

Several media had reported that G Capital had entered into a heads of agreement with Datuk Phan Ying Tong (without naming his previous employment with Public Bank) and ES Packaging Co Ltd to establish the new bank, named Oriental Bank.

KUALA LUMPUR (April 8): RHB Retail Research said Pentamaster Corp Bhd may rise higher after it breached above the RM3.77 threshold.

In a trading stocks note today, the research house said last Friday’s candle has sent the stock to its new 52-week high, thereby enhancing the bullish sentiment.

“A bullish bias may emerge above the RM3.77 level, with an exit set below the RM3.58 threshold.

“Towards the upside, the immediate resistance is at RM4.20. This is followed by the RM4.50 level,” it said

KUALA LUMPUR (April 8): RHB Retail Research said Jaya Tiasa Holdings Bhd may rebound further after it tested MYR0.525 support recently.

In a trading stocks note today, the research house said as the stock rose above the 21-day SMA line, this indicates a positive sign.

“A bullish bias may appear above the 56.5 sen level, with an exit set below the 52.5 sen threshold.

KUALA LUMPUR (April 8): Public Investment Bank said Destini Bhd is picking up its prior uptrend after undergoing congestion phase over the past two weeks.

In a trading ideas note today, the research house said improving RSI and MACD indicators currently signal reasonable entry level, with anticipation of continuous improvement in both momentum and trend in near term.

“Should resistance level of 34 sen be broken, it may continue to lift price higher to subsequent resistance levels of 35.5 sen and 39 sen.

“However, failure to hold on to support level of 30 sen may indicate weakness in the share price and hence, a cut-loss signal,” it said.

KUALA LUMPUR (March 20): Salcon Bhd shares jumped 9.26% early Tuesday after the firm’s engineering unit has secured a water treatment plant construction contract in Sabah worth RM124.7 million.

At 9.05am,Salcon rose 2.5 sen to 29.5 sen with 813,600 shares traded.

It said the contract, awarded to its unit Salcon Engineering Bhd by Rintis Dinamik Sdn Bhd, will involve works for the capacity expansion works for the Telibong II water treatment plant in Tamparuli.
The expansion, which will be carried out on its main pipeline and storage tank, will increase the plant’s capacity from 80 million to 160 million litres a day.

KUALA LUMPUR (March 20): Upstream oil and gas services provider Uzma Bhd’s shares rose 3.03% this morning after its unit MMSVS Group Holdings Co Ltd was been awarded a three-year contract to provide onshore hydraulic workover services.

At 9.06a, Uzma added 3 sen to RM1.02 wiith 618,700 shares done.

The contract — awarded by PTTEP International Ltd, PTTEP Siam Ltd, and PTTEP SP Ltd — commenced on March 1 and is valid until June 30, 2022 with a one-year extension option, it said.
