On a macro level, there's the question of global climate change, one of which is global warming impact on the world.

On another level, lots of electronic products have generated a greater demand for a variety of aluminum products.

On demand-supply level, with China's new policy of cutting down production to manage their environmental pollution issue, there is more global market space for Alcom to tap into whilst a weak Ringgit currency means greater income value in terms of currency appreciation.

Jefflim1234, good morning. Didn't access Alcom last evening. Went out to Low Yat Plaza, etc. The seminar ended yesterday. Going back to Taiping this morning by ETS 1130 a.m.

"The China Stock Market in 2017 and Beyond" is of great interest to me as I have some positions in unit trust funds on China and the Asia-Pacific regions. I've PB Islamic Asia Equity Fund and PB China Pacific Equity Fund among others.
I learned that "Weibo" stock is a very promising stock that can match and even overtake Tencent in the not too distant future.
So much for now. I've yet to finish breakfast. Ha, ha, ha.

I read between the lines, what's before and after the underlined items and try to co-relate them to any possible realities.

I read them as a part within the context of a whole and see them as a whole to understand the parts. Sounds so philosophical yet so confusing?

US: Investors were trading cautiously prior to the corporate report season and the Wall Street ended on a mixed tone with the Dow and S&P500 slipped marginally by 0.04% and 0.01% respectively, but the Nasdaq gained 0.03%.

Asia: Asian stock markets charted a mixed trend after the Fed's dovish slant despite China posting better-than-expected 2Q17 GDP growth at 6.9% (vs. Reuters poll of 6.8%). The Shanghai Composite Index plunged 1.42% following the weaker sentiment from the ChiNext composite - Shenzhen's tech start-up board.

Meanwhile, share prices on the local front may see some revival of trading interest as market overall volumes picked up, coupled with oversold signal spotted on FBM KLCI.

Sentiments may also be lifted with the recent recovery in crude oil prices near the US$48 level.

The share buyback by the company will significantly do a lot to shore up shareholders confidence as well as protecting the value of the stock which is already at a huge discounted margin. In a way, this move will allow the management to redeem themselves from the blunder of "underprovision for deferred tax," which has resulted in the severe drop of LBAlum price and panic selling.

I feel that what the company could have at least done is to initiate share buyback with the company's financial reserves. All the company has to do is to sustain or stabilize the share price for about two months until the next QR release. (* From views aired at this forum, most people opine that the coming QR performance will be impressive)
In this way, investors can still at personal levels accumulate strategically without burdening their capital too much as some of the liability is absorbed by the share buyback. Isn't this a better option?

While conventional common sense points to further accumulation of the stock at low valuation, in the long term is it realistically sustainable when it touches the bottomline of an investor's money management and if hypothetically the management continues to fail to deliver? If a company fails to perform at a time when all conditions are optimal, can it be expected to perform under unfavourable headwinds and sluggish market conditions? This is really food for thought.

If the management really cares about the company and the shareholders, they should be doing something to protect the share price or to stabilize it. Even in IPO prospective new company also knows how to secure cornerstone investors or banks as stabilizers.
