On the bright side, operating margins are still good, with bright future prospect. Now the issue is to find new customers and replenish orderbook...

yup Monday blood bath.
@VSLSB how do you know "both bosses" have good working relationship?

gonna plummet tomorrow hoho
The drop in revenue was due to decision of a major customer to change to a new product model and discontinue the old product model resulting in a temporary drop in revenue and the lower revenue resulted in the lower profit before taxation.

serbadk (o&g) isnt*** the only sector i nid to consistently read and follow up on.

@mabel, cuz I havent done enough reading on the plantation sector to blindly enter. Sure, CPO prices are up. Palm oil with its high efficiency will always be in the need. Indonesia is advocating for a 30% biodiesel mix compared to the previous 20%, further skyrocketing the demand for CPO as current stocks remain low.
But are our plantation ctrs that good? Compare FGV to UTDPLT, the profit margin differnce has been consistently huge! Why? It needs more looking into if you ask me. Nevertheless, wish u all the best and hope u can make money Mabel. It's just not in my circle of competency right now. Better focus on 1 than 2. And Serbadk it's the only sector i nid to consistently read and follow up on.

why fry plantation when u can just chill and farm in O&G? I farmed in the furniture sector, and just held since early April, now almost 100% profit. If u invest in a counter, stick with ur plan. Don't change into trader mindset midway. Accumulate accumulate ~

liihen is good; but who knows later gt black horse among pohuat, springart, and other peers?

no rkg... they dun focus on one sector... they diversify... like scientex in plastic and property, and do it very well, plastics business bullish, and they buying landbanks when the prices are low now so they can develop it when the market gets better in the future
(despite being lazy, i cant believe im typing this) same goes with serba, thr is a way how O&G, EPCC and IT relates together to form a good bonding. They build the EPCC projects, get a small ownership in the project, to have a better views as a small boss than an average developer, and they also continue their maintenance operations on the project when it is done and start running. The IT part is to come up with new, higher value solutions to for their maintenance operation customers. Ezbuy and all those small apps are ntg, the IT solutions they provide for existing customers alrdy and those which are to come in the future are. (+ their VR capabilities, I think that is promising too)

FA is FA... we dont do FA merely on industry, but look at a ctr overally, be it business model, future room for growth, total available market to tap into, management, profit margin... the list goes on...
But yeah rkg is right, that serbadk is very special in a sense that it isnt a pure O&G company. Reading the ARs and u will see that management alrdy said they will cut down reliance on O&G, not meaning their profit in this sector will reduce, but more emphasis will be put in EPCC and IT. I personally think their business model for EPCC is smtg very sustainable in the long run, which will translate into greater earnings for its shareholders. Hence I hold.
@NPRA depends on ur time horizon. Are you a trader, mid-term investor or are u going to hold it long? If short, my guess will be 1.8 or good qtr result. Whichever comes 1st, surely some will choose to take profit.
2020-11-17 15:10 | Report Abuse
@darklord, i think its just the general public expectation of a good qtr, plus with recovery of O&G sector with news of a vaccine soon. See Yinson consolidating quietly. But it's still far from reflecting the fundamental value yet at this price, if u ask me personally la hahah. But you shoud have your own ruler, dun get brainwashed by anybody. Do ur own research and trust ur own research. Other ppl's research if gt good data, then yes can use it to complement urs.
I'm lazy to talk about why i see serbadk as a fundamentally good company ady. Drop or go up both is good for me. Ill just accumulate when drop and chill when up. Hold 5 years. :)

@smallkid, no, am not from the o&g industry, and I definitely agree with you that there are risks of the Abu Dhabi project, but at this price, and more importantly its projected future outcome from its EPCC, IT and maintenance operations, after doing my own risk-reward analysis, I think its a risk I can stomach.
I do have REITs in my portfolio thou.

@mabel, ya u hav a valid point. But declaring a state of emergency would have a similar if not worse effect of disolving the Parliament. Confidence among investors will waver.
@henry888 @bullpiano a state of emergency applies to everyone. Yesterday many talked about it as just a "political" emergency state, where all political activities will be stopped temporarily, but that is just rubbish. Our Federal Constitution is the law of the land, and it does not prescribe types of "emergency states". Political emergency state, health emergency state, economical emergency state... these dont exist. They are but terms invented overnight to fool those who are constitutionally illiterate. Under an emergency state, the authorities will have full power in all matters. Check and balance ceases to exist.
Even if you are not worried as a fellow Malaysian, you should be as an investor. The Federal Constitution does not prescribe a maximum duration to when an emergency state will end. If declared, and prolonged... would you have the confidence to invest in Malaysia?

What could the PM do if the state of emergency is declared under Art 150:
1. Complete perish of fundamental liberties such as the right to fair trial, right to equality, and freedom of expression and assembly. This means the PM can:
- shun political dissents, jail opposition leaders under ordinances harsher than the ISA
- confiscate property, nationalise wealth
- Arrest protestors and critiques of government of the day.
- and many more state actions only imaginable in authoritarian states.
2. Disregard of proper parliamentary procedure to pass important motions/law. Among which are:
- PN gov no longer requires majority in the parliament to pass the 2021 budget.
- The PM will not need to resign despite losing majority confidence.
3. Paralysis of separation of power. The parliament will not be necessary to convene, and the judiciary will not be able to review any decisions made under the state of emergency. It will be a one-man state.
To summon such grave and dangerous power of state of emergency in spite of our fully functional Prevention of Disease Act and NSCA endangers the fabric of our rule of law and democracy. The leviathan has tried to shaken its chain around him.
If the gov truly declares a state of emergency and abuses it, I only hope we can be braver, and not allow this pandemic be used as a means introduce despotism.
When all else fails, the one standing between democracy and despotism is us, the rakyat. Don't we forget that.
