Someone whose mind is neither heavily contaminated by obsolete doctrine, nor irreparably stuck in time warp.

Someone who leads young innocent mind, liken a white piece of paper, to the current enlightened path of Steven Pinker's principles.

Teach, guide and facilite the students of different creeds and background to develop:

1. the power Of reasoning
2. the intention to value humanism
3. the culture of scientific thinking
4. a progressive-oriented community

1. Reasoning

Having an enlightened person to be present and lead every level of the community, institution and organisation is more important than having a dozen of people whose minds, being clouded by delusional ideas, concepts and fiction, lack of objectivity, maturity and sensibility.

2. Humanism

During the Renaissance*, Humanism played a major role in education. Humanists —proponents or practitioners of Humanism during the Renaissance—believed that human beings could be dramatically changed by education. The Humanists of the Renaissance created schools to teach their ideas and wrote books all about education.

*a period of revival of or renewed interest in learning, discovery and experimenting

4. Progressive

The first progressive movement began in the first decade of the 20th Century as a revolt against the “Gilded Age” of extreme wealth and income inequality, massive consolidation of industries, corrupt political machines of both parties, and ineffectual government.

21st Century progressivism resists fascistic government as a united people with freewill. It was not an ideology. It was a philosophy of government and governance. It defined the duties of government and public officials, which were to serve the needs of the people, not the special interests. Government officials were expected to act honestly and intelligently. The duty of government is to do for the people what they need to have done but what they cannot do for themselves.

Its big, optimistic, idea was in its name: progress. Things could be changed for the better. People could improve themselves. Life could be made better. The world could be made better.

Finally, progressives differed from libertarians. Far from being synonymous. Yet, libertarians tend to hijack progressivism agenda.

With proper education, young minds will stop thinking that their culture, religion, race, their very existence is under threat (delusions), or fighting the illusory enemy. but instead they will keep the government in check, using the objectivity of their minds, and maturity of their emotion.

Education Evolution

When he Homo spp first emerged million years ago, they lived in small, nomadic bands and made their living hunting and gathering. Children
spent their days playing on their own in packs in the outdoors. Their education was informal and new skills were learned “on the job”. The reasons for learning each new skill were apparent i.e. for survival - ranges from from identify edible plants to making tools for hunting.

Given the fact that it’s been only within the last few hundred years that formal schooling, which is the results of ever increasing technilogical complexity, has become part of the ecology of
childhood; and just about 1/100th of 1 percent of the sapiens' brain’s entire existence has been an evolutionary wink-of-an-eye, they were in fact not designed for formal schooling.

Evolutionary educational psychology has influenced instructional
design by firstly, providing us with a scheme for categorizing knowledge into biologically primary and biologically secondary knowledge. Most knowledge categorisation schemas have not had instructional consequences but this scheme has profound consequences. Biologically primary knowledge can be learned but not taught. In contrast, secondary knowledge that is taught in educational institutions should be explicitly taught rather than left for students to discover.

Biologically primary and secondary knowledge (David Geary)

The thinking using the evolved modules as biologically primary, and that involving the plastic frontal areas as biologically secondary.

Environmental pressures have resulted in the evolution of brain ‘modules’ specialising in processing certain types of information, such as language or facial features. Information is processed by the modules rapidly, automatically and implicitly, resulting in heuristics (rules of thumb) characteristic of the ‘folk’ psychology, biology and physics that form the default patterns for the way we think. (biologically primary)

Sapiens are also capable of flexible thought that overrides those default patterns. The flexibility is due to the highly plastic frontal areas of the brain responsible for intelligence. (biologically secondary)

An ideal educational environment would, among other things, permit age-mixed interactions, and allow freedom of expression
and debate, while maximizing the children’s abilities to educate themselves.

Improper education resulting in shamless thugs, ignoble opportunist and uncivilised bullies

Bullying is an evolved, facultative adaptive strategy in that it is likely to develop and be manifested only under particular environmental conditions when its benefits outweigh its costs, such as when the benefits include greater access to somatic (health and survival), sexual (e.g., increased dating or sexual opportunities),and/or dominance (social status) resources.

Many anti-bullying interventions do not succeed because they are based on an erroneous stereotype that bullies are socially incompetent.

Back to basics

Children have traditionally acquired their
culture through “self-guided learning” rather
than a dependence on “active” teaching by an
adult who systematically intervenes with the
objective of changing a learner’s behavior.

The End Justifies The Means

Teaching will be favoured by selection only where the costs to teachers of facilitating learning are outweighed by the long-term fitness benefits they accrue once pupils have learned, and these benefits will be scaled by the ease with which pupils could learn without teaching.

Evolutionary science holds for improving educational research, practice, and policy. However, it is equally obvious that it will take a concerted effort on the part of not only researchers, practitioners and school administrators, but also parents and other education stakeholders before the full potential of adopting an evolutionary perspective on schooling can be realized.

School is prison? A prison—according to the common, general definition—is any place of involuntary confinement and restriction of liberty.

Sometimes people use the word prison in a metaphorical sense to refer to any situation in which they must follow rules or do things that are unpleasant.

It is against the law in this and other democratic countries to force someone to work at a job where the person doesn't want to work, or to marry someone that he or she doesn't want to marry. It is not against the law, however, to force a child to go to school.

it is wrong to deny anyone liberty i.e. choosing to learn or not to learn, without just cause. It is not easy to force people to do what they do not want to do.

By confining children to school and to other adult-directed settings, and by filling their time with assignments, we deprive them of the opportunities and time they need to assume the responsibility to think about their own future and take steps to prepare themselves for it.

In a rigid system in which teachers do the assessment, few students are going to criticize or even question the ideas shove down their throat.

Finally, by forcing all schoolchildren through the same standard curriculum, we reduce their opportunities to follow alternative pathways. When children are free? they take new, diverse, and unpredicted paths. They develop passionate interests, work diligently to become experts in the realms that fascinate them, and then find ways of making a living by pursuing their interests. Students forced through the standard curriculum have much less time to pursue their own interests, and many learn well the lesson that their own interests don't really count; what counts is what's seen by their narrow-minded teachers-cum-assessors.

""I had a long briefing. I am still digesting the items that they had briefed me and I am still a little bit confused because of so many facts given. I am studying them.

"One thing I have decided is that you can wear brown shoes, black shoes, grey shoes, white shoes – any shoes will do," said Dr Mahathir on Friday (Jan 17)."

Prime Minister too is confused with the long briefing. What this means, the policies or ideas lacks in substance and subject to more scrutiny. This is the normal modus operandi when trying to explain matters. You will come out with more questions and confused. Thanks to Biro Tata Negara.
