i dont think those working in singapore, those rush in out everyday need this or that. Their main problem is malaysia's new custom checkponit very far away from the singapore custom. Just open the old custom back, let them walk across the bridge , it will definitely save them time. They can't walk anymore.

Just to let u guys know, many years ago, u could walk from the old malaysian custom to singapore custom with less than 15 minutess. I think if you walk fast, 10 min will do. Some they don't know how near singapore is to jb. So if there's any traffic jam, they could walk, back and forth. This is what they did. Nowadays, u are not allowed to walk and is very far. Is basically u want to cross to singapore, u need to take a vehicle either your own vehicle bus or train. Last time u can cross for free using your legs. These days, there are 3 places which can lead to traffic jam, 1. Jam in malaysia custom, 2. Jam between malaysia and singapore 3.jam in singapore custom.
Last time they could bypass the 1 and 2, so the jam would at 3 only. With 1,2,3, your likelihood of being in a traffic jam increases because there are 2 additonal areas where u may end up getting traffic jam. If all 3 areas jam, u mati loh,jam like hell. Talking about the new malaysian building custom,is a weird building, very big one, u need to walk long distance to take a bus, and is very far away from singapore custom. So the new custom actually contributed a lot to the difficulty of those going back and forth from singapore everyday.

the bus companies actually profited from the shifting of the old custom to the new custom bczo u can't walk anymore, u have to take a bus. Another thing, traffic was diverted to the new custom and which is linked to commercial centre. Both the new custom and the commercial centre have business running. The old custom which used to have shops with very good biz, some closed shop bcoz lost the traffic.

Yes,
Talking about the Old & New Custom in JB CBD
Last time it was located just after the JB Railway station very near the Causeway Bridge. It was so simple and convenient that you just have to wave your passport to the Custom Officer without any need for scanning.
There was one Indian Provision Store doing Roaring Business as last minute traveler would grab some final purchase of newspapers, food, tit bits or drinks before crossing over to Singapore. At that time the conversion rate was One Sing Dollar for about Rm2.20
And the guy who owned the Provision Store spent Rm80K to refurbish it just when they shifted the Old Custom to the New Custom. His business suddenly ceased & he told me he suffered total loss.
Now the New Custom is such a Maze. You got up a flight of stairs & then some more before turning left. And you have to walk pass several shops before being able to board the SBS Bus to Singapore
Why like that.
Well it was done on purpose. Those shops are tenanted out for tens of thousands of ringgit each ---- the most expensive ones in Johor or even in Malaysia..
Up to Rm20,000 or Rm50,000 each for one with 200 sf?
How to make money?
I heard they made lots and lots. So I paid them a visit. To my surprise the 7th levenn Outlet here sells up to Rm50,000 stuff per day. Amazing. As fast as the goods disappeared from the shelves the Store Hands replenished the goods from the Store behind. One given day more than half of the inventory are sold.
I also met a Sole Agent Marketing Houses for Developer.
PURI RESIDENCE - A JV between BPuri & MP CORP launched 300 landed houses at Rm488K a unit. More than 150 already sold out. These are 20x60 2 storey houses. With Gym & Swimming Pool. Gated & Guarded. So hot is the traffic here!
But poor commuters will have to bear with the long walk. Same thing in Singapore side. Except in Singapore there are no shops.

I think to be User Friendly Both Johor & Singapore should build a covered travelator for those who want to walk across the causeway. To spice it up say build a rest place with shops & washrooms right in the Middle of the Causeway. This could be built above those water pipes
No result.
