The reform should target not only the medium of education but the teaching force. The core issue lies with the quality of teaching personnel.
The other issues are useless compulsory subjects like Pendidikan Moral, Civics and Citizenship Education Islamic and Asian Civilisation Ethnic Relations KOMSAS Tamadun Islam and compulsory participation in co-curriculum activities.
These subjects do not have value in upskilling other than drilling down moral values. But after so much of choking of these values are they good enough?

Totally agreed.
Education is a privilege - something for learners to appreciate and feel grateful for. No learners should be forced delusional, fictional or factual reality down their throats!
The purpose of education is to LIBERATE, yet local students have been groomed by a system that sows seeds of fear within them, so that by the time they are adults, fear has become part of their daily lives.
Be honest. How many of them are afraid to COMMUNICATE their opinion for fear of being judged or sounding stupid?
One of the taught my great granddaughter:
While pointing to a picture of a big and small cow, he said to the class (Standard One)
*Big cow. Small cow."
And guess what? She corrected him instantaneously (to his embarrassment)
It was an English language class and was meant to be read out as " A cow and a calf"!!
There is a dire need to overcome one of the biggest the 21st century educational scandal i.e. teaching falsehood to children, making them grow up only to realize what freaky misfits (of merc consumerism), unemployable pak pandirs or parasitic lebai malangs of digital era they become.
A school must be a place conducive for children to explore new ways of thinking, as well as, facilitate them to synthesize a new model of world perspective. Yet, they must be neutral enough when comes to religiosity, creeds and belief systems.
The labelling, distinction and segregation of muslim or nonmuslim children in national schools have got unhealthier, totally obscene and absolutely pernicious.
Responsible Nation-building By Selective Funding of Only Good Education (Part One) : Cognitive flexibility, creativity and critical thinking
Only by using Socratic method, the children stand a chance to exit Plato Cave, and thus get to see a different perspective model for their lives, the world and the universe differently - in a fresh way. While Epicurean paradox will help them to develop critical judgment and decide on the right model. Since change is the only constant - changability and adaptability are synonymous with sustainability and future viability.
Responsible Nation-building By Selective Funding of Only Good Education (Part Two) : Google or rote learning? Wikipedia, encyclopaedia or proto-encyclopaedia medieval texts?
Text sets consist of books, print materials and websites organized around a theme, topic, or concept. These are generally trade books written to share information and ideas, experiences and life stories. They do not come with a curriculum guide that tells teachers to “Say this now.” Rather, they incorporate written pieces from a variety of authors, from a variety of places around the world in a variety of genres. Many text sets consist mostly of non-fiction material, but novels, short stories, and poetry are often included.
The reasons for building a set primarily with non-fiction are two fold. One is that many students want to learn about the “real” world and the whys and wherefores of how that “real” world came to be and how it works. They want facts and theories. These are helpful when reading various forms of fiction. Another reason is that informational texts are useful for teaching core concepts, replacing sometimes boring, limited, and frequently out-of-date textbooks.
Text set materials are chosen by the students are not doled out or distributed by the teachers. Materials are displayed in the classroom in such a way that students can browse and choose the ones they want to read. Reading is not necessarily done cover-to-cover. Rather, the students use the books to assist them in meeting their learning goals. For some, this may mean reading the entire book; for others this means using the index and reading only the pages needed.
Real Education and Character Building (Part One): The goals of using text sets with our students are:
•To increase each student’s literacy development, •To increase each student’s content understandings, •To increase each student’s self-efficacy so that they have the confidence, independence, metacognition, and stamina needed to be proficient learners.
This book is the result of the author's many years of experience and observation throughout his 26 years in the stockbroking industry. It was written for general public to learn to invest based on facts and not on fantasies or hearsay....

The reform should target not only the medium of education but the teaching force.
The core issue lies with the quality of teaching personnel.
The other issues are useless compulsory subjects like
Pendidikan Moral,
Civics and Citizenship Education
Islamic and Asian Civilisation
Ethnic Relations
KOMSAS
Tamadun Islam
and compulsory participation in co-curriculum activities.
These subjects do not have value in upskilling other than drilling down moral values. But after so much of choking of these values are they good enough?
