YTL Power develops one of world's best advanced supercomputers

KUALA LUMPUR: YTL Power International will deploy and manage one of the world's most advanced supercomputers with the DGX Cloud, powered by NVIDIA Grace Blackwell.

The company announced the formation of YTL AI Cloud, a specialised provider of massive-scale GPU-based accelerated computing.

YTL AI supercomputer will surpass more than 300 exaflops of artificial intelligence (AI) compute, making it one of the fastest supercomputers in the world, it said in a statement.

With the help of an AI supercomputer, generative AI technologies should progress more quickly, it said.

YTL Power is one of the first companies to use the fifth-generation NVLink-equipped, multi-node, liquid-cooled NVIDIA GB200 NVL72 rack-scale system.

The company said that the supercomputer will be connected using the NVIDIA Quantum InfiniBand networking infrastructure.

DEMAND for air-conditioning repair and servicing has soared alongside temperatures, with companies in Singapore gaining clients and receiving up to 50 per cent more same-day requests.

As households ramp up air-conditioning usage to combat the heat, the increased wear and tear causes more breakdowns – and thus more servicing requests – in subsequent weeks, industry players said.

Under normal usage, the recommendation is for air-conditioning units to be serviced every three to four months. During servicing, units are taken apart, cleaned of dust and debris, and checked for signs of mould or damage, said Kevin Tan, sole proprietor of Aircon Astiquer.

I can tell you that majority of Singapore adults got air-cond in their bedrooms. Turning on an air-cond during this hot tempearature is a norm. With extreme temperature and higher electricity tariff, YTLP power net profit for the next QR should be easily more than RM850 million or more than 11cent.

I had been working and stayed for 10 years in Singapore. Got many Singapore colleague lah. Most of them turning air-cond during sleeping is a norm. Furthermore, they indulge their children more than Malaysians, turning on the air Cond is a must for them esp this extreme temperature. In average, a Singaporean income is 6.3 times higher than a Malaysian. Current electricity tariff is still affordable and reasonable for them. YTLP is so wise that bought the Singapore power plant and enjoying strong Singapore dollar now and in future as well. Furthermore, allows to build a 600MW hydrogen Plant.

"Ok so the story on Microsoft is that I believe Satya is a special guest for the Nvidia conference just as Jensen was a special guest for the Microsoft conference last year.

Below is the video from the Microsoft conference last year. To get a basic understanding of what is going on please watch from 7.20 mins.

When Jensen talks about TAM that means Total Addressable Market. That basically means all companies will need access to AI or else they will no longer be able to compete.

So as regards to the supercomputer, most of the capacity of DC2 will feed the supercomputer and the customers using the supercomputer can be the Malaysian govt or any MNC or any heavy industry who want to do R&D and improve their operations.

There should be no shortage of customers because AI is now only way to stay ahead.

For example if a drug company wants to launch a drug to fight diabetes they will need the supercomputer to do the R&D and the AI data center will feed the supercomputer with the relevant data.

Or if a steel company wants to do simulations on how to improve productivity and reduce their carbon footprint they will use the supercomputer and the AI data center will feed all the available data of steel production from around the world.

Essentially the video basically sums up that Microsoft is the leader in AI software and Nvidia is the leader in AI hardware and that is why their combined market cap is US$4 trillion.

They will need companies like YTL to bridge the gap to build and manage the supporting infrastructure."
