KUCHING: CCK Consolidated Holdings Bhd’s (CCK) net profit for the first quarter of 2014 (1Q14) jumped more than one-fold as compared with a year earlier.
The poultry company in a filing to Bursa Malaysia on Tuesday said its net profit for 1Q14 increased 110 per cent year-on-year (y-o-y) to RM3.11 million compared with RM1.48 million in 1Q13.At the same time, the company said its turnover rose 24 per cent y-o-y to RM117.34 million against RM94.58 million in 1Q13.
CCK in its notes accompanying the release of its 1Q14 financial results said the increase of the company’s revenue was attributed to higher income from the opening of new retail outlets.
On a quarter-on-quarter (q-o-q) basis, the company said its revenue declined 7.7 per cent to RM117.34 million compared with RM127.18 million in 4Q13.
CCK Consolidated Holdings-------yesterday uob kay hian report (CCK MK) Technical BUY with +16.0% potential return Last price : RM0.970 Target Price : RM1.01, RM1.13 Support : RM0.900 Stop-loss: RM0.895 BUY with a target price of RM1.13 with stoploss below RM0.895. CCK’s share price has retraced from the recent high of RM1.01 before rebounding off the immediate support of RM0.900. As the share price continues to surge higher, it closed above the bullish crossover of 7-day and 21-day EMA lines yesterday on the back of a much higher trading volume of 0.6m shares (vs 20-day average of 0.08m) which suggests renewed interest may spur an upward movement from here onwards. This is consistent with rising momentum while an uptick in +DI indicates a stronger uptrend ahead. As such, we expect CCK to resume its long-term uptrend as we peg our upside target at the 1.61x Fibonacci extension level of RM1.13 over the medium term. Expected Timeframe: 2 weeks to 3 months
Tiong, 73, is one of the top five tycoons in Sibu, which is famous for “nurturing” Malaysia’s top timber businessmen of the Foo Chow clan. The clan’s ancestors braved rough seas to land in Sibu to open up virgin jungles in 1901.@@@@ he is buying !!
They invested a lot in production but sales didn't improve as much. As a result, earnings growth wasn't really fantastic until 2Q2015 when they finally reaped the benefits of their aggressive expansion of retail network. 2015 sure looks like a better year vs 2014.

KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 27): theedgemarkets.com highlighted five stocks with momentum at Bursa Malaysia’s afternoon market close today. It showed three stocks with positive momentum and two with negative momentum.
Stocks with positive momentum were:
Sern Kou Resources Bhd ( Valuation: 0.90, Fundamental: 1.00) - up 3.5 sen at 68 sen
CSC Steel Holdings Bhd ( Valuation: 1.80, Fundamental: 1.20) - up two sen at RM1.19
CCK Consolidated Holdings Bhd ( Valuation: 1.40, Fundamental: 1.00) - up six sen at RM1.26
Stocks with negative momentum were:
CWorks Systems Bhd ( Valuation: 0.00, Fundamental: 2.25) - down one sen at 52 sen
Astral Asia Bhd ( Valuation: 0.90, Fundamental: 1.35) - up 20 sen at RM1.70
The list of stocks with momentum is generated using a proprietary mathematical algorithm highlighting stocks with a build-up in trading volume and price. The algorithm differentiates between stocks that exhibit positive (+ve) momentum and negative (-ve) momentum.
This list is not a buy or sell recommendation. It merely tells you which stocks are seeing higher than normal volume and price movements. The share price may move up or down from this point. But the “+ve” (suggesting a rising price trend on volume) and “-ve” (suggesting a falling price trend on volume) indicators should give readers a better idea of what the market is buying and when to sell. Note also that momentum generally only persists for a short period of time.
However, each stock has an accompanying fundamental score and valuation score to help readers evaluate the attractiveness of the stocks, if they want to ride the momentum.
(Note: The Edge Research's fundamental score reflects a company’s profitability and balance sheet strength, calculated based on historical numbers. The valuation score determines if a stock is attractively valued or not, also based on historical numbers. A score of 3 suggests strong fundamentals and attractive valuations.)
This book is the result of the author's many years of experience and observation throughout his 26 years in the stockbroking industry. It was written for general public to learn to invest based on facts and not on fantasies or hearsay....
