KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit opened easier against the US dollar this morning on lack of catalysts amid a strengthening greenback, dealers said.

The ringgit was marginally lower at 3.8920/8980 against the greenback from Thursday's 3.8900/8930.

The local unit was range-bound versus other major currencies, except for the euro and Japanese yen.

The local note also declined against the British pound to 5.5029/5126 from 5.5012/5074, but appreciated against the euro to 4.3804/3880 from 4.3825/3866.

It also depreciated against the Singapore dollar to 2.8525/8576 from 2.8521/8554 yesterday, but advanced against the Japanese yen to 3.5495/5559 from 3.5626/5663.--BERNAMA
