If property market in US, Europe can collapse, so can happen in Malaysia. It may not be tomorrow, next year, next 3 years; but it will happen. It is just a question of when only.

Put in this way if we have the money and don't know where to park the money as the financial storm is threatening, most paper assets are not stable, buying property can be used as asset protection. To speculate by using bank loan is looking for trouble.

for me, buying property still better than buy share. agriculture land is much more better. last 8 year i bought 200K, now can sell at minimum 600K. still the palm oil fruit already help me take back the capital 200K. now the price is not good. so i plan to convert to plant banana..haha(my tree is old). if the economic going down the paper gain become loss still acceptable. cause i still have income from the selling banana. Buying house I only target at the 200 to 300K apartment which can rent at around 1K/month, the purpose is to keep for 10 to 15 years hope for another 100%.
