FRANKFURT, Aug. 5 -- The German shares continued to slide on Monday, with the benchmark DAX index closing down by 1.82 percent at 17,399 points, according to figures released by Deutsche Boerse group.

All the individual shares among the DAX composite index, except the semiconductor producer Infineon AG and the healthcare company Siemens Healthineers, retreated.

The index touched its intraday low of 17,024.82 before recovering part of its losses.

The correction of the German shares mirrored those in the United States, Japan and other stock markets in the world.

Technical analyst Marcel Mussler was cited by the Deutsche Boerse group as saying that the end of past week was a disaster for stock markets and there are numerous new sell signals.
