KUALA LUMPUR: The Armed Forces will continue to assist police at roadblocks throughout the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) period, said Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The focus, he said, will be on compliance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act (Act 342).

Ismail said 12 more agencies may be roped in to enforce this, in addition to the 14 others tasked to ensure strict compliance of SOPs among business owners and individuals.

The 14 agencies are the police, Armed Forces, Civil Defence Department, Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency, People's Volunteer Corps, Immigration Department, Public Works Department, Road Transport Department, National Security Council, Labour Department, Occupational Safety and Health Department; International Trade and Industry Ministry; Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry; and Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry.

"Our border control has been enhanced, with a joint task force among uniformed agencies to monitor not only the official borders, but also 'lorong tikus' (rat lanes)," he told a press conference in Putrajaya today.

"Quarantine" is when you restrict the movement of a sick person.
"Tyranny" is when you restrict the movement of a healthy person.
