KUALA LUMPUR: Walk-in inoculation from Aug 1 onwards is meant for individuals not accounted for by the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) and those who do not have an appointment for the jab.

The walk-in initiative is not for members of the public who had received their appointment dates, said the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF).

"Examples of those without appointment dates are individuals that do not own any identification or travel documents as announced by National Covid-10 Immunisation Programme coordinating minister Khairy Jamaluddin on July 16," it said in a statement.

The CITF statement was in reference to a WhatsApp message which listed more than 50 vaccination centres (PPV) in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor accepting walk-ins for those aged 18 and above to receive their first Covid-19 vaccine jab without prior appointments. 

The statement said that Kuala Lumpur and Selangor residents are encouraged to register themselves for the vaccination while appointments will be set for those who have registered.

"The list of PPVs operating for the walk-in programme in August will be updated and informed at a later date as not all existing centres will be part of the initiative.

"Please attend to your scheduled appointments at the venues stated," it said.

Starting July 17, Khairy who is also the Science, Technology and Innovations Minister announced that all registered and unregistered senior citizens aged 60 and above who have yet to receive an appointment date can walk into any vaccination centre (PPV) in the Klang Valley for their Covid-19 jabs.

He said after the task of Operation Surge Capacity is completed, all PPVs in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor will be available for walk-ins to receive their first vaccine jab in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor on August 1.
