KUALA LUMPUR: Former Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein has reiterated his stand to not appeal the suspension of his membership in the party.

The Sembrong Member of Parliament shared four reasons why he decided so even though there was a recommendation from Johor Umno for him to appeal.

"I will not appeal. What's the reason? It's because I do not know the reason I was suspended. Until today, we still do not know what the reason for my suspension was. So what should I appeal for?

"Number two, the suspension did not follow the procedures. I was not asked to answer to the Disciplinary Board. There was no letter issued by the Disciplinary Board to at least call me to answer in writing, there is none," he said in his TikTok account last night.

It was understood that the statement was made by Hishamuddin when he attended the Friendly Meeting of Sembrong MPs with the leadership of the Barisan Nasional (BN) of Sembrong last Saturday.

He said that he did not make an appeal as he was already viewed as guilty.

Hishamuddin along with several other Umno leaders were previously suspended from membership for six years, thus preventing them from contesting in next month's UMNO elections.

On Feb 4, Johor Umno wanted Hishamuddin and Tebrau Division Umno Chief, Datuk Maulizan Bujang, who was also suspended, to submit an appeal and defend themselves against the charges and convictions imposed on them.
