KOTA BARU: The state Domestive Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry has received 609 complaints via its Op Kesan 2.0 hotline.

Kelantan director Azman Ismail said the figure was recorded since Op Kesan 2.0 was launched on June 7.

He said most of the complaints were related to the increase in prices of food and essential items.

"We have investigated almost all the complaints and taken the necessary actions," he added.

He said the complaints were lodged by both members of the public as well as traders.

On June 7, Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali when launching Op Kesan 2.0 said a federal task force will be set up to deal with complaints about traders who use the diesel subsidy rationalisation as an excuse to increase the prices of goods and services.

Op Kesan 2.0 which took effect on June 8, is aimed at curbing profiteering by traders following the subsidy rationalisation.

Armizan said the task force, comprising 15 ministry officers, would be based in Putrajaya.
