KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman denies claims in an online portal report that there will be a major reshuffle within the police force among its top leadership.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain (pic) said the police are aware of an article from a news portal, claiming there were plans to transfer some of its top officers.

"We have never issued any official statement on the matter mentioned in the article.

"We have contacted the news portal but they refused to name their sources for the article," he said when contacted on Tuesday (Aug 6).

The police will investigate the matter if the need arises, he said.

Later, in a statement, the IGP advised all parties not to quote unofficial sources for matters involving security and government agencies.

The news portal reported that among the officers involved in the reshuffle are Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay and Bukit Aman CID director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain.

The portal reported that both men were linked to top posts in the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency and the National Anti-Drug Agency.
