KUALA LUMPUR: A major reshuffle of the top leadership in the police force is not on the cards, says Bukit Aman.

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said the police are aware of an article in a news portal claiming that there is a plan to transfer some top officers.

“We have never issued any official statement on the matter as mentioned in the article.

“We have contacted the news portal, but it refused to name its sources,” he said when contacted yesterday.

The IGP said police will investigate the matter if the need arises.

In a statement issued later, Razarudin urged all parties not to quote unofficial sources for matters involving security and government agencies.

The news portal reported that among the officers involved in the reshuffle would be Deputy IGP Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay and Bukit Aman CID director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain.

Quoting sources, the portal reported that Ayob Khan might be transferred to lead either the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) or the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency while Comm Mohd Shuhaily would take charge of the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK).

Currently, the MMEA director-general post is vacant following Datuk Hamid Mohd Amin’s retirement while AADK’s Sutekno Ahmad Belon was transferred to the Human Resources Ministry as its deputy secretary-general in April.
