KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 6): Invest Selangor Bhd (ISB), a state government agency, said it has successfully concluded the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2024 Series One.

The event included the Selangor Investment and Industrial Park Expo (SPARK) 2024 and the Selangor Asean Business Conference (SABC) 2024.

The summit attracted 8,550 visitors from 22 countries, including Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Thailand, said ISB in a statement.

SPARK 2024 featured 18 pitching sessions, four pocket talks, and two panel sessions, offering insights into market trends, business strategies, and innovative products.

The event saw the exchange of 23 agreements, underscoring the collaborative spirit and mutual interests of the participants. It also featured 285 booths from six countries, up from 258 booths from four countries in 2023, said ISB.

“The total potential transaction value from negotiations done at the booths and document exchanges reached RM12.2 billion this year, surpassing the RM7 billion target set for overall SIBS 2024,” the agency added.

Last year, SPARK 2023 recorded a total negotiated transaction value of RM4.6 billion, contributing to the overall SIBS 2023 value of RM6.12 billion.

Meanwhile, SABC 2024 featured 27 speakers and panellists from Asean member countries and Timor-Leste, attracting over 500 attendees, including over 200 international delegates, said ISB.

In comparison, SABC 2023 had 23 speakers and panellists and drew a total of 783 attendees.

“Last year, a total of 100 international delegates were present. The Industri Kreatif Asean mini showcase, with participants from five countries, also drew many visitors and highlighted Asean’s vibrant culture,” added ISB.

Moving forward, ISB said the SIBS 2024 will continue with its Series Two, featuring the Selangor International Expo (F&B) 2024, Selangor Life Sciences Convention (SLC) 2024, and Selangor Smart City and Digital Economy Convention (SDEC) 2024.

It is scheduled to be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from Oct 16 to 19.
