KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Azmin Ali won a defamation suit against egg importer J&E Advance over allegations that the company had been awarded an egg import project from India through direct negotiations with the government.

High Court Judge Leong Wai Hong, when delivering the decision, also ordered the company to pay RM50,000 in costs to the former senior minister.

On March 12, last year, during a Perikatan Nasional ceramah in Taman Melewar, Azmin alleged that the government had awarded the project to import eggs from India via direct negotiations.
