SHAH ALAM: A RM3bil Budget 2025 has been tabled for Selangor to ensure the momentum of its economic growth and socio-economic programmes for the people.

This is an increase of RM470mil in comparison to last year’s budget of RM2.53bil.

Tabled by Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari (pic) yesterday, service and supply expenditure was the biggest component in Selangor Budget 2025, with 38.7% of the total amount going towards expenses for state administration.

This includes the salary scheme increment adjustments for civil servants, security services and maintenance contract involving 26 departments as well as Village Community Management Council (MPKK).

Amirudin also announced two months’ salary as special financial aid for the state’s civil servants with one payment next month and the remaining amount to be paid in March.

As for flood mitigation initiatives, Selangor Budget 2025 has outlined an allocation of RM34.27mil.

Of this amount, RM18.7mil will go towards reinforcement work at the Sungai Klang river basin, RM9.3mil (Sungai Langat river basin), RM3.2mil (Sungai Selangor river basin) and RM1mil (Sungai Buloh river basin).

The remaining amount will go towards the maintenance of other river basins as well as various flood mitigation initiatives.

“The state government has also allocated RM4mil next year for the upgrading of coastal banks that were affected by the high tide phenomenon,’’ said Amirudin.

As for the control and prevention of dengue in the state, RM4mil has been provided for the purpose.

In addition to this, the state government will also look into providing dengue vaccination, which was introduced in Malaysia early this year.

“The state government, through Selgate Healthcare Sdn Bhd, will explore collaboration with suitable healthcare service providers regarding dengue vaccination for the people of Selangor, subject to the situation and health needs at the time,’’ he said.

“Up to Nov 9, there were 56,400 dengue fever cases throughout Selangor. This is 50% of the 111,250 cases recorded in Malaysia,’’ he said.

Selangor Budget 2025, which was tabled at the state legislative assembly, is titled Dynamic Selangor: Perfect Aspirations of Malaysia Madani (Selangor Dinamik: Cita Sempurna Malaysia Madani).
