PETALING JAYA: Former Attorney-General Tan Sri Idrus Harun and ex-Federal Court judge Tan Sri Zainun Ali have been appointed as members of the Judicial Appointments Commission.
Also appointed are former State Legal Adviser of Sarawak Datuk Seri Talat Mahmood Abdul Rashid and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) law lecturer Associate Prof Dr Hartini Saripan.
In a statement from the Judicial Appointments Commission's secretary office, it was stated that the appointments were made by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The appointments to the Judicial Appointments Commission are under subsection 5(1)(f) of the Judicial Appointments Commission Act 2009.
This appointment is for a term of two years, effective from Nov 1, 2024, to Oct 31, 2026, replacing Tun Md Raus Sharif, Tan Sri Datuk Suriyadi Halim Omar, Datuk Haji Abdul Razak Tready, and Associate Prof Datuk Dr Shamrahayu Ab Aziz, whose appointments ended on Sept 3, 2024.
The commission also expressed its gratitude and appreciation for the services and contributions of the members leaving the commission.
