PETALING JAYA: Savvy investor Brahmal Vasudevan has emerged with a 6.62% stake, or 12.6 million shares, in human resources (HR) company SMRT Holdings Bhd, Bursa Malaysia filings showed.

SMRT Holdings’ shares were among the most actively traded on Bursa yesterday, rising 8.5 sen or 23.29% to 45 sen on a volume of 22.72 million shares. It also recorded its 52-week high of 47.5 sen. Meanwhile, its warrants increased nine sen to 38.5 sen on a volume of 19.88 million shares.

SMRT Holdings has a market capitalisation of RM85.6mil.

In the past, Brahmal’s emergence in a listed company has stirred excitement, as he is seen as an investor who looks for undervalued stocks.

Brahmal, who also runs private equity firm Creador, had previously taken a personal stake in MyEG Services Bhd, from which he had gained a 300% return within one year of investing.

His Creador fund has also taken stakes in Oldtown Bhd and Bonia Corp Bhd. Other companies associated with investments by Brahmal and Creador are Scicom MSC Bhd and GHL Systems Bhd. The shares of all these companies had appreciated post their entry.

德達飛訊集團（DSONIC，5216，主板貿服組）是近期備受市場關注的股項之一，該公司股價從年初至4月1日的歷史新高時已激增約128%。

股價上揚的利好主要是該公司為大馬卡更新措施的主要受惠者，加上近期宣佈耗資2千190萬令吉收購台灣聯友（FPI，9172，主板消費品組）旗下智能卡製造廠，長期展望再受看好，儘管如此，股價如此迅速飆升並不能排除其實是市場在炒作。
令人擔心的是，分析員發現機構投資者持有該股的比例甚微，這意味著股價的上揚主要是散戶在參與推動。
值得一提的是，這“展望良好“的股項只有一家證券行研究，且該證券行自去年11月開始分析該股至今年3月，已5度調高該公司目標價，上調的幅度約100%，最近的報告更使用高達26倍本益比作估值，且當股價來到歷史高位時也仍不猶豫地“喊買”。

分析員在進行估值的時候，一般會儘量將所知的利好或利空計入估值和目標價內，該證券行短短4個月內5度調高目標價，是意味著該證券行“粗心”？還是另有“打算”？

雖然使用26倍本益比來估計一家高成長科技股未必是不合理的計算，但在短時間內從原本保守地使用16.5倍本益比增至最近的26倍，期間最多只公佈兩輪業績季度報告，又沒有其他更強力的理由支持，有為股價走勢推波助瀾之嫌。

隨後在4月4日，有報導指該股不斷寫下新高，被大馬股票交易所列為“指定股”的可能性很高，打擊該股於當日暴跌22.6%至3令吉64仙，並於一週後再跌20%，引起投資者一片慌亂。

正當投資者疑慮是否該趁低買進之際，該證券行於4月17日再出報告強調“買進”評級，該股在即當日回揚9.4%，對該股的無限“支持”實在耐人尋味。

這不僅讓人想起2008年美國次貸危機前，穆迪（Moody's）、標準普爾（Standards & Poors）和惠譽（Fitch）等國際大型評級機構不斷唱好次級貸款相關證券，引起全球機構和個人投資者瘋狂購買的情況。
無論如何，投資者預期證券行分析報告該是中立的，但我國的股票分析研究所一般都附屬證券行或投資銀行，其中夾雜多少利益矛盾則不是外行人所能窺見的，若因此而公佈具私利心的投資建議則是違背公眾信任，監督單位應當進行調查。

為不願讓民眾受害於不專業的投資建議，證券監督委員會在發放投資顧問執照方面非常謹慎，僅大型金融機構能夠獲得；惟這並不代表國家銀行或證券監督委員會等監管單位就可因大行的專業而疏於監督其操守。
此外，監督單位在管控資本市場秩序方面不該矯枉過正，隨著國內高等教育逐漸普及，有才能的金融人才比所知的更能幹，監管單位應開發部份執照予民間人才，而不讓銀行專屬。

若配合監督工作，就能在民間培養專業人才，讓市場有更多不同角度與全面的分析報告提供給投資者，避免讓特定大行影響力過大，濫用力量操縱市場的事情發生。（星洲日報／焦點評析：劉國通）

PETALING JAYA: MK Land Holdings Bhd is planning to launch at least RM500mil worth of properties next year, depending on market sentiment.

Chief executive officer Lau Shu Chuan told reporters following a shareholders’ meeting that the planned launches would very much depend on the market.

“RM500mil is a conservative figure. This could go up to RM700mil if the property market is good,” he said, adding that the company still had around 2,023ha of land in the Klang Valley, with 101ha in Damansara Perdana and the rest mostly in Perak.

Lau said the real property gains tax would have “some impact” on the market in the immediate term, but would smoothen out in the longer term.

He dismissed the worries over rising household debt (of which 55%, according to rating agency Standard & Poor’s, comprises mortgages), pointing out that it was not the only measure of the overall indebtedness of the country.

Lau said that while the debt warranted attention, it could not be denied that the debt was backed by tangible assets.

“You see, the good thing about this is that if you were a banker, the financial assets are actually two times the exposure. This means that for every dollar of debt, you have two dollars worth of assets backing it. Although you have 80% of household debt to gross domestic product, most of these debts are actually secured debts,” he said.

“This is an almost two times cover! So, don’t get so worried and say that the country is going to go under – no.

“I think the property market would do well,” Lau added.
