SMIC has agreed to a joint venture with the southern municipality in which it will develop and operate a chipmaking plant that can produce silicon of 28 nanometers or above, it said in a stock exchange filing. The export revenue was at RM35.3 billion last year, a big leap from RM17.35 billion in 2019, due to the abnormally strong demand for rubber gloves as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
