The rationale of AA propose share buyback is to stabilize the market price of AA shares & to prevent "speculation" of AA shares when undervalued to enhance investors confidence. The proposed buyback will improve Earnings per share (EPS) of AA & expected to have a positive impact on the market price of AA.

There will be a period of slower growth but recession i don't think so..we will have a recession when the GDP contract continuously for 3 quarters..but i don't see that coming..during a period of slower growth as expected in all the emerging markets, retrenchment on selected companies is necessary to make the companies lean & mean..the Unites States is operating at full employment at 5.1% & so is Australia..even if the fed reserve is going for a rate hike is going to be gradual & this time around maybe around 25 basis pt & the impact will not be great..the US economy is strong & if the Fed delay the rate hike which means that they only worry about the emerging markets & China..I think the Fed should just go ahead & have the rate hike to get it over with..if not it creates an uncertainty in the global markets & creates more volatility.

If the fed going to increase fed rate this Thursday..the ringgit will depreciate further..more foreign funds will leave the market..the stock market will go down further..

if you look at the profit reported by companies so far is nt impressive..this will continue to the next quarter..there will be more downside..

according to the PM, he said that the RM20b to boost up the stock market is to buy undervalued stocks..AA is very undervalued..so is AA selected??

The RM20b announced today to boost the stock market will not help to increase investors confidence with the current political turmoil in the country..foreign investors will not returned to the stock market if not resolved..also believe that the index will drop to 1500 level before it climb up to about the 1600 level by year end.
