Has a result of ESG pressure, there will be no supply growth for CPO in foreseeable years . Demand growth of 3-5% annually for edible oil remains. The supply and demand growth mismatch has driven CPO price to record level after record like what we have witnessed since 2020. In the end of the days, consumers pay extremely high price , CPO producers make records profit and most become cash rich companies and pay bumper dividends.

There are just too much misinformation , misunderstanding and misjudgment on CPO sector, largely the work of IBs. Public have been constantly told that price unsustainable ever since CPO reached $3,000 in 2020! Many cited cyclical nature of CPO as reason of not liking this sector . But then which sector is not cyclical? The whole economy is cyclical too.

The Company has said it will review the final dividend payable for FY 2021 at a later date. On top of its regular dividend schedule, the Company had earlier declared and paid the first-ever special
dividend of 18 cents per ordinary share in November 2021.
Last year’s final dividend based on 50% on NPAT was declared on 4th March 2021 while the final QR was announced end Jan too.
Just be patient

Why Neoh sold part of his shares? To give misleading impression to market ??
IJm, Surin and Pang who collectively control 60 % of the company should provide confidence.
The disappointment is there isn’t any update on the opening of more stretches for toll collection.

There will be no growth in CPO production from both Malaysia and Indonesia at least for the next few years. Global demands for edible oil for food or industrial uses will continue to grow. Other competing edible oil (which are produced only one season a year in northern hemisphere ) are facing high risk of unfavorable weather amid climate change phenomenon . You just need a bad season for soya or canola in 2022 to see CPO sustains sky rocketed price level throughout the year .

The Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) revealed on Dec 10, 2021 that CPO production for the January-November period declined by 1.14 million tonnes, or 6.4%, to 16.67 million tonnes compared with 17.81 million tonnes during the January-November 2020 period due to the decline in fresh fruit bunch (FFB) processed by the mills arising from the lower FFB production
Average CPO price was $3,748 and $5.341 for Jan 21 and Nov 21 respectively, a surge of 42% which is largely the result of 6% drop in production over the period.
So, labour problem and 6% lower in production should not be blown out of proportion! In the end of the days plantations are still laughing to the bank and investors are rewarded with good dividend.

2022-01-27 14:59 | Report Abuse
The world got to get use to substantially higher price for palm oil . Due to wild weather arising from climate change , the next soya, canola or sunflower production at northern hemisphere may be at high risk of jeopardy. When that happens, CPO price will be high throughout..

Consumer will continue to pay more . Oil palm plantation will reap the profits. The wild weather arising from climate change will particularly put production of other oil crops like soya, relapsed etc at high risk .

Jan 27): Oil palm planters in Malaysia are confronting a hard truth — behind the red-hot rally in prices are thousands of jobs that nobody wants.
While high prices typically encourage planting and production of crops, output in No. 2 grower Malaysia slumped to a five-year low last year and planters say the main reason for that is the industry’s worst-ever shortage of workers.
The inability to increase supply in response to rising prices goes to the heart of what’s driving palm oil to record highs. Output growth in top producer Indonesia is slowing too. This is important for global food inflation because the two countries account for more than 80% of world supplies, and consumption of the edible oil in everything from food, to detergent and fuel is expanding.
“The volume of palm oil that will come onto the market is more or less fixed and not going to grow very much,” said Julian Conway McGill, Head of South East Asia at LMC International, a consulting firm. “But the world keeps needing more vegetable oil for food. We need to get those yields up.”
