@Save to answer your question, JTiasa accounts this quarter have a deferred tax CREDIT. See the 2nd part of my example above. It's a REVERSAL credit/income
2023-08-24 19:46 | Report Abuse
Accounting profit =/= Taxable profit
E.g.
Accounting may require you to recognise an income this year, cos you EARNED it this year
But under Income Tax rules, you will only be taxed when you receive payment (cash) for that
So you have a mismatch here
So let's say the income is 1m
24% tax is 240k
U pay no tax this year. Current tax = 0
But you need to recognise something called DEFERRED TAX = 240k
So total tax expense this year is 0+240k=240k
Then next year u sold nothing, did absolutely nothing
But you received that 1m cash
Current tax=240k (1m x 24%)
Deferred tax (reversing the expense last year)=-240k
Total tax expense this year=240k-240k=0
Complicated? That's why you need your accountants! πππ€£

I think I will only consider trimming when I see RM1.60. that's another 17% before I trim
2023-08-24 19:09 | Report Abuse
Yea @pang72 betui betui
Even let's say Francis Yeoh say punya 9.5 sen tak jadi, and we have say 8 sen for next year...
8 sen over RM1.36 now is 5.9%
Why sell??? Hold la of course!

@CommonMan, just "MAY", no guarantee. Some companies just don't like to call a divvy "final" because it sorta like ties them up, restricts them for declaring further divvy for that financial year. You can have company that pay 4 divvies a year and they call each and every one of them, including the 4th, as "interim".
2023-08-24 18:43 | Report Abuse
Anyhow I don't expect any more dividends. Better reserve to pay in next financial year
2023-08-24 18:36 | Report Abuse
Alternatively
Q1 interim
Q2 nothing
Q3 FINAL
meaning the directors are telling you don't hope for any dividend announcements in Q4
2023-08-24 18:34 | Report Abuse
Interim means the company reserve the right to declare another out from current year earnings.
Q1 interim
Q2 interim
Q3 interim
Q4 interim
FINAL divvy
If they call divvy declared with Q4 as "final", means no more for that financial year lo
Just a matter of terminology only

Full-year number dragged by lousy Q1 and Q2. If you annualise 2nd half results, you get EPS of 16 sen - P/E 8.5 times only!
And 8 or 9 sen divvy seems very doable for next year
2023-08-24 17:20 | Report Abuse
Last year 3 sen divvy
This year 4 sen
Next year will surely increase further

No surprise, 1.65 sen divvy. But, see their cash flow statement. Nearly 100% of operating cash is paid out as dividend.

Bright spot for non-interest income
AMMBβs 1QFY24 non-interest income advanced by a solid 30% yoy. While this was partly driven by an 82.1% yoy surge in investment income, we are encouraged to note that its fee income rose by 11.7% yoy in 1QFY24, primarily emanating from a 77.5% yoy increase in portfolio management fee, a 52.8% yoy rise in corporate advisory fee, and a 226.9% yoy jump in bancassurance commission.
Reiterate Add on AMMB
We retain our Add rating on AMMB given its attractive valuation of 6.7x CY24F P/E (below the sectorβs 9.4x). Potential re-rating catalysts include above-industry loan growth, expected decline in LLP in 2Q-4QFY24F, and potential partial write-backs of management overlay (of RM362m at end-Jun 23). Potential downside risks include material deterioration in loan growth and asset quality. We maintain our FY24-25F EPS forecasts and DDMbased target price of RM4.39 (cost of equity of 10.2%; terminal growth rate of 4%).
